BOTB 8.7.11

By Kate Riley August 7, 2011

Good day to you on this lovely Sunday!  It’s here again, the roundup you’ve all been waiting for!  Amanda and I scoured the blogosphere this week to yet again bring you our favorite and most inspiring picks.  We hope you enjoy them, let’s get started:

Myra mixed great color and both vintage and modern fabrics in her breakfast room retreat.  Don’t miss the big reveal at The Casabella Project.

Craving an uncluttered look in your home without going minimalist and cold? Employ this one essential trick recommended by Small Notebook.

Are you a lover of abstract art and have considered your own DIY version?  Hop on over to Oh Happy Day for the step by step on how to make your own affordable abstract artwork with stunning results.

Ooh la la, don’t miss this very chic and sophisticated bedroom reveal over at Conspicuous Style.

Did you play along with the Pinterest Challenge earlier this week?  We loved these two clever adaptations of Pinterest inspired ideas, a shim mirror over at Bower Power and a clothespin chandelier by Young House Love.

  .

Donna at Funky Junk Interiors joined the challenge too, creating some charming wood buttons and building a pallet sofa too!

.

Wendy and Alex teach readers how to create a harlequin paint treatment with their step-by-step tutorial at Old Town Home.

 .

.

With back to school around the corner and rompers everywhere, here’s a great tutorial from Craft Passion on how to refashion an old sweater into a girl’s romper.

.

These starched linen flowers are fabric botanical perfection.  We’re imagining them in earth tones pinned to your fall cardigan.  Visit Jones Design Company for the tutorial and template.

.

The details really shine in this Little Mister Bow Tie baby shower.  See how Heather put it all together at The Lovely Cupboard.

.

Teresa’s photography is always beautiful, and this week she captured her son’s wedding.  Don’t miss more of these charming scenes over at Meadowbrook Farm

Thank you Amanda for partnering with me this week to round up our favorite picks!

Enjoy your Sunday,

xo,

  3. Great edition of BOTB! Fantastic eye candy and so impressed by the many great ideas out there. (And thank you too for including our harlequin paint treatment. We’re flattered!) :-)

  4. hi!

i love the images here, but have one little bone of contention! minimalism isn’t cold! :D

my family and i are minimalists (2 adults, one child), and live in a little 500 sq ft beach cottage. we keep things minimal and organized here, and it’s cozy, warm, and lived in. :) Simple, minimalist (and recycled) doesn’t mean cold. :D
