Fan-tastic! Hutch Makeover

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

When Jesyka sent over this buffet and hutch transformation I was totally and completely wowed.  Refurbishing these old treasures is all the rage, and they are easy to prime and paint, but Jesyka created something really special with this one-of-a-kind makeover.

I love everything about this piece!  Not only did Jesyka paint it the perfect robin’s egg blue (that she mixed herself), but her choice of three different knobs complement each other so nicely.  And that pop of gold paint?  Swoon.   How about that incredible wallpaper!  Love that wallpaper!  Psych.  Not wallpaper.  Shelf liner.  Brilliant!

Jesyka also added lighting and changed that fixed middle window into an operating door.   Jesyka, Jesyka, you’re just a girl after my own heart.

LOVE this.

Don’t miss her birdcage chandelier hanging from the ceiling that’s a wee stroke of genius.   Go on, hop over to visit Jesyka and give her big props for this inspiring piece.  Bravo!

Fan-tastic Fixture

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Hi all, how’s your week?  For me, it’s been interesting running up and down plywood steps on our staircase for the past few days.  We will slowly be installing new white risers and wood treads over the course of the next week.  It’s certainly a lot of precision cutting, and there’s plenty of sawdust in our house ~ more details coming soon.

Meanwhile, I’d love to show off this fantastic light fixture revamp by Kristen at The Painted Hive.  Kristen shows some real ingenuity and a can-do attitude with her makeover.  She takes this unbelievably dated fixture (the same one I’ve spied at garage sales and in the brass bin at my local Restore)  . . .

Stunning!

Can you believe it ?  What a clever and beautiful makeover, I am in awe !

Hop on over to visit Kristen and read all about how she did it.   No doubt you’ll be inspired to update one of your brassy fixtures too.

Have you got a fabulous makeover you’d love to see featured?  Drop me a line at centsationalgirl@gmail.com and I’m happy to consider it for the weekly lineup!

Fan-tastic: Kitchen Makeover

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Hi all, how’s your week ?  Excited for the long weekend ?  I certainly am.  Have you had a chance to link up your space to the Where Do You Blog? party yet ?  Over 200 blogging corners to browse, and all so fascinating!  There’s still time before the end of the day to add your unique space where you blog too.

Second, the winners of the Gussy Giveaway from last week are lucky #73 Jen from Coastal Lust and #340 Aimee from Life As An Oakes.  Congratulations Jen and Aimee!

Finally, today as part of the Fantastic Feature series, I bring you an incredible DIY kitchen makeover from Modern Jane.   Jane enlisted the help of her brother and her dad to transform her dated kitchen with plywood, pine, and plenty of Zinsser primer.  She even pieced together her new countertop with pine stair treads !
