Sparkle Confetti Garlands

Wednesday, November 19th, 2014

The crush on all things spots and dots continues with the latest seasonal craft, strands and strands of sparkle confetti garland! We’re getting in the Christmas spirit around here, stringing up lights and ornaments. This year the decor is simple, concentrated mostly in the living room and the front porch since we will be spending Christmas Day away from home but still wish to enjoy the season around the house.

My ten year old girl likes to craft and decorate at Christmas too so we decorated a tree together and I added a mantel display, I’ll share that tomorrow. Here’s a look at our strands of confetti garlands and the easy steps on how to recreate.

There are a few versions of this garland online but many require a sewing machine, I didn’t want to run glitter cardstock through my machine and wanted my little girl to be a part so we used a simpler process, combining 1/8” ribbon and glittered scrapbook paper cut with two different punches, 1” and 1½” sizes.

Cut your ribbon as long as you wish (ours were 2 yards each) and glue two dots together to the ribbon with a glue stick so your strand is two sided.

With a little patience you’ll get strands of sparkle confetti garland for stringing up around the house through the New Year, fun to suspend anywhere, on mirrors, light fixtures, bookshelves, whichever spot needs a touch of sparkle.

Keep them wound up neatly in the off season and like any other garland and it will last for future parties and seasonal decor.

Merry Christmas to You!

Monday, December 23rd, 2013

We had the most wonderful party ever on Saturday with many friends gathered in our home. It definitely puts one in the Christmas spirit! One of the lessons 2013 taught me was the value of time off, so I’m taking this week away from the computer to enjoy Christmas and all the joy it brings. I have two children so very excited for the arrival of Santa then we’re off the mountains for a few days to enjoy a winter wonderland.

I want to thank you all for visiting, for your comments, your friendship, your correspondence, and your support throughout the year. I’m gearing up for a 2014 filled with a lot of home improvement, and a continued conversation on making spaces lovely and livable. I can’t wait to share all the details in the New Year! Next week’s postings will be light – we all know downtime and unplugging leads to great things: rested minds, bodies, and new bursts of creativity.

I wish you all peace, love, joy, merriment, safe travels, good cheer, and kisses under the mistletoe. Enjoy the season, play in the snow, get cozy with the ones you love, decompress, eat chocolate, and have a glass of bubbly or two.

I’ll be back on Monday the 30th, meanwhile connect with me here :
