Thanks so much everyone for the kind comments on my younger daughter’s room, it was fun to pull together a space with a lot of pattern in color palette she chose. You asked, so I’m here to answer… here are a few more details on the projects that went into her young and feminine bedroom.

Many of you wanted to know about the color on the chandelier – I used a spray paint in the color ‘Catalina Mist’ by Krylon to change it from dark bronze to a minty aqua blue. The round light bulbs can be found at Home Depot. I used the same spray paint to cover the three frames that hang above the bed (frames found at Michaels.)

The fabrics on the window panels and bench were a simple design I created last year for her room and printed over at Spoonflower. I’m not sure yet if these patterns will be available this summer. Thanks to Camille for sharing that the Moroccan print lavender rug is also available at Overstock.

Hey everybody, I finally finished up my nine year old daughter’s room – a makeover I started back in October of last year. Over the past few months I’ve worked my way around the room, adding different elements here and there. You may recognize some of the projects I’ve posted about in the past.

My daughter just turned nine and is crazy about the combination of purple and blue – predictable for that age but sweet nevertheless, so I used those two colors throughout to make sure she really loved the space and would have fond memories of it when she’s all grown up.

As you can see we did go ahead with the bunk beds I asked you all about that she wanted for her ninth birthday. I’ll share some thoughts on this particular bed set and how we’ve adjusted to bunks in a follow up post.

The nightstand we’ve had for years, I found it at a garage sale for $3 many years ago, it still fit the space and provided a perch for a lamp to read by at night. Even though the palette is very young and feminine, I do like that most of the accessories and fabrics are sophisticated enough to last for many years as she grows older.

We have a small space above our garage that I’m converting to a design and sewing studio as I continue on my textile design journey, and I scored a credenza at a thrift store for $40 a few weeks ago (the one I mentioned here). It was the perfect size and I loved the raised detail on the fronts, but it was scratched and dinged in a lot of places so the perfect candidate for a new paint treatment.

It was too dark and drab before so I gave it a new look with pale gray paint and gold trim.

It sits in my little studio between two windows – I painted this one wall a vivid coral because I’m crushing on this color right now.

This year, I’m challenging myself to bring more color into my home beyond my favorite blues which are everywhere around the house. Coral is my latest color crush and a natural complement to blue so it’s showing up in doses, most recently the living room.

The local stores have had several varieties of tulips in recent weeks, and these beauties were impossible to resist. I collect blue glass vessels, so it made sense to gather them up in a group on the mantel this season and fill them with the tulips.
