Printable Holiday Gift Tags

I adored my Nana may she rest in peace, but my Dad’s mom who’s been gone these many years did not put any effort whatsoever into wrapping Christmas presents for her children and grandchildren. It was a seasonal joke in our family, we’d get gifts and only the front, I’m not kidding, only the front of the box was wrapped, and she laughed about it and made us all laugh too. It was one of the many things we found so endearing about her, so every year when Matt and I are up until midnight on Christmas Eve wrapping what “Santa” brought, I laugh to this day and say to him maybe we should just be more like my Nana.

However, when it comes to gifts for friends or extended family members, I do like to make an effort, if only to attach a sprig of berries to twill ribbon or tuck an evergreen clipping under a satin bow. Gift tags are a must at family gatherings and holiday get-togethers so I created a few of my own with Photoshop this year and I’m happy to share them with you!

DIY to Try: Holiday Edition

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013

Hey all! I confess I’m in full Christmas mode this week – I love all the crafting and decorating ideas being shared around the blogosphere and on Pinterest right now, so much creativity! Whenever the catalogs start arriving in late October and early November I like to pile them up and then sit down with a cup of coffee to browse what’s on the pages. I always spy a few things I think could be recreated and a bunch of inspiring ideas jumped out at me, so I had to share!

A version of this felted wool wreath at Viva Terra could be recreated with leaves cut from inexpensive pieces of felt glued to a wire or foam wreath.

Antlers are still hot right now – here’s an idea from Horchow to create a series of them using wood plaques and decoupage medium (patterned paper or fabric). For faux antlers, look to these DIYers: Cassie used clay, Shannon used leather, wire, and a shell, Jennifer used driftwood branches, Aimee used branches and clay.

A template, a jigsaw, some plywood and paint, and you could make your own whitewashed reindeer like this one at Home Decorators to display year after year.
