Bathroom Vanity + Mirror Medleys

Monday, February 16th, 2015

Now that the kitchen remodel is underway, I thought I’d turn my attention to the hall bathroom since we’re trying to finish up the reno by summer. It’s time to remove the plain builder mirror, light fixture, and old sink vanity (which is falling apart) and replace with a free standing vanity and mirror combo.

This is the upstairs hall bathroom which is used by kids and guests; it’s a windowless space so I’m going to keep it light and cheerful in here. That little shelf above the toilet will go, I envision a mirror and vanity on the left, on the right a new toilet with some colorful art above.

I had my heart set on this green Keys vanity but after I measured I realized it’s too big for my space, I’ll have to find something no wider than 32", perhaps the smaller Savoy in gray or aqua, or another that I paint a fresh fun hue. My research turned up so many other attractive free standing vanities and stylish mirrors so I created a few combinations for powder rooms and small bathrooms to inspire.

Imagine them with a wall treatment behind like board and batten or a fab wallpaper, and as we all know, if you like the shape but not the color of the vanity, you can always paint it and swap out the hardware for a more personalized look.

Coffee Table Styling

Wednesday, January 28th, 2015

We don’t have a coffee table in our family room anymore, we took it out a few months ago because I was tired of it, but I’m looking at others with different proportions. I’m taking my time finding the perfect one, but I do so love a beautifully styled coffee table with an organized collection of considered elements. Coffee tables offer us a place to gather and display our favorite things.

Can we look at some pretty ones today? Yes, let’s. Here’s a great go-to grouping that works well: stacked books + vase of flowers + decorative object or two.

Another useful trick is to include a tray in the mix to corral a small collection of items so they feel controlled, also consider candles for ambiance and scent.
