Greetings on this Good Friday friends, we’re gearing up for the Easter weekend festivities, and off to my sister’s house for dinner on Sunday. My sis lives over an hour away so we don’t get a chance to see each other as often as we should or could.
There are many things my younger sister and I have in common, but the one thing we share is a love of vintage finds and chocolate mint. In fact, a perfect afternoon for me would be sitting in her backyard, eating chocolate mints, and pouring over shelter magazines together. That or going thrifting arm in arm.
I was wandering the aisles of one of my favorite antique stores a few weeks ago and came across these sweet vintage bunny aluminum tins, so I thought I’d give them to my sis, but I couldn’t help making some chocolate mint Easter bunnies to go along with them !!

Hello hello, hope you all had a lovely weekend! I realized on Friday I had advertised an Easter link party come Monday morning, then scratched my head wondering what I could pull out of my little bag of tricks. I admit, I wasn’t feeling very inspired, especially since we’re not hosting Easter dinner or an elegant brunch like we did last year.
What to do, what to do? Drumming fingers, thinking thinking… Hey, how about a switcheroo on the mantel, that’s always easy and fun, cause it’s only been a month since I last changed it! Yeah, the mantel. Some fresh flowers and a few flea market finds from the past, and a new (albeit simple) mantelscape is on display.

I found the candlesticks below at a thrift store last year. I speculate they were donated because their stripes are not perfectly symmetrical, but that’s why I like them so much. They have a very ‘Liberty of London’ feel, and were an easy buy at $5 dollars for the pair.

My friends, if there ever was a bandwagon, this carefree DIYer is jumping right on it. For months, I’ve seen fabulous versions of the sunburst mirror pop up all over the blogosphere. And for weeks now, with every stop in the paint department, I couldn’t help but notice how those paint stir sticks might just make a very cool version of this decorative favorite.
I couldn’t figure out how to stack them nicely enough around the center to make it worth my effort, but that little road bump didn’t stop me from snagging more than my fair share of free stir sticks at a time, like 8 or 10, over the course of a month. When I read how Danielle used an embroidery hoop, that convinced me to make my own version too! Those free stir sticks led to this latest creation:

Hello friends, happy spring, the sun is shining today, at last! There’s just something about sunshine and bright colors that is making me happier this week. I even painted my toes a bright coral yesterday ~ that’s me, livin’ on the edge.
Last weekend, I made these sweet little dessert stands for displaying spring and summertime treats when guests come over. They’re frugal, festive, and fabulous ~ my kind of project!

Pretty Dessert Stands from Goodwill Plates & Glasses:
What You’ll Need: Miscellaneous stemware and dessert plates; household silicone sealant (the kind used for aquariums); frosted glass spray paint; colored spray paint; paper doilies.
