Watercolor Animal Prints

By Kate Riley February 25, 2015

I was shopping for prints for a kid’s room art wall I’m working on and was introduced to some wonderful watercolor animal prints on Etsy, one of my go to sources for artwork. The popularity of watercolors is still going strong, surging in the past year as a big trend, but the medium has been used in the art world for hundreds of years.

Animal prints are the perfect accent in nurseries or children’s spaces but also placed around the house as well, anywhere you’d like to add some color and personality like a bathroom, family room, or kitchen. Retailers like Restoration Hardware charge so much for a single stylized animal print, but you can get the look with less expensive animal prints from artists in these shops I discovered on Etsy.

I purchased two prints from Ink Sprouts, I love the use of negative space and the coordinated palettes in these prints. (Instant downloads available too.)

Below are some examples of collected art walls in children’s spaces. As kids grow up and produce their own art, it’s always fun to include some of their best work alongside the professional prints too.

  1. Thanks for supporting Etsy handmade sellers! I have also recently begun selling my watercolor animal prints on etsy in my shop Wandering Laur Fine Art, after contributing decorations to the nurseries and playrooms of all my friends!

  2. I love these prints! Some talented artists I must say, I feel like water color art is becoming a little bit of an obsession of mine recently. It just feels so magical and whimsical

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Aww these are all precious. My favorite is the pig by Water from my Paint. It would be perfect in a little girl’s room or her little play kitchen. So cute!

  5. Great post – a friend of mine sent me a link and said I should get in contact although it is probably too late!

If it’s not too late, it would brilliant if you could have a look at my etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/toriratcliffeart I work in watercolour and fine liner, but it is nice to read your blog anyway and see what other watercolour artists are creating!

    Thanks again!

I will be definately checking out some of these Etsy sellers.

P.S. Many, many years ago I lived in Napa. Here in Plymouth, MA,,I am looking out the window at piles and piles of snow. A mild Napa winter would be such a nice change right now.
