Mix This Wallpaper + That Fixture

By Kate Riley February 10, 2015

My entire life I’ve loved decorating, from dollhouses as a child to the bedroom of my youth (redecorating it over and over again). Since then I’ve never tired of mixing patterns, furnishings, and accents in different styles, it’s just as fun as an adult!

Today’s focus is on a medley of wallpapers and light fixtures, here are some chic pairings in different spaces from whimsical and classic, to bold and dramatic. I’ve matched them up by room but of course any wallpaper or fixture can go anywhere you fancy. Enjoy!

home office wallpaper and fixtures

Add a hint of gold in a fresh geometric pattern with the thermoscad wallpaper, partner it with this amazing urchin chandelier (I want one so bad!). Black and white never goes out of style, mix the feather fan wallpaper with the possini pendant. The gilded mosaic wallpaper and modern globe chandelier are another elegant pairing.

Keep it neutral and sophisticated with the ripple wallpaper and brass flushmount; glam it up with marble wallpaper paired with the contempo crystal chandelier; or introduce a cool tropical vibe with the palm leaves wallpaper and bamboo sconces.

kitchen wallpapers with fixtures

Give your kitchen a vintage feel with lemons wallpaper and a patina copper pendant; inject Spanish revival vibe with the eldridge pendant and diamante wallpaper; or go bold with the black and white paseo wallpaper and sophisticated dome pendant.

Add a whimsical collection of animal friends with the jungle wallpaper, include the rainbow pendant as a colorful accent. In a girl’s room pair the posh pagoda chandelier and elegant cherry blossoms wallpaper; bring a classic nautical vibe to a boy’s room with the sea creatures wallpaper and rope chandelier.

More ‘mix this with that’ posts coming soon, (chairs and pillows, beds and bedding, etc.), or send along any suggestions !

  1. These are all so perfect for each other! Personal favorite is the lemon print wallpaper for the kitchen. Someone needs to invent scented wallpapers (a la the scratch and sniff sticker–but don’t make me scratch my own walls, please); I would love my kitchen to look AND smell lemony fresh!

  2. Love the marble wallpaper … May just have to order it for our guest bathroom:). Perfectly paired with the crystal chandelier…. Lovely as always.. Thanks Kate!

  3. I love your finds for the bathroom light fixtures! Any ideas for more budget friendly options?

  4. While all these wallpapers certainly match the style of the fixture you’ve shown, it’s often interesting to have the fixture contrast the style a little. I really love how Erin Gates paired a sputnik chandelier with grasscloth wallpaper in her dining room. The juxtaposition of the spunky chandelier and the more classic, posh look of grasscloth really made the room. Would be interesting to see a post about how to blend styles that way!

  5. Loving the patina copper pendant. I already have black school-house pendants in a similar shape in my kitchen – wonder if I could do a paint treatment to resemble the patina….hmmmmm….

  6. Thinking about wallpaper for master bedroom, please, would love some suggestions as wonderful as these featured on post, thank you!

  7. Wow, I love this post. So helpful in making those tough decisions in decorating! Can’t wait to see the other posts!

  8. So many lovely, yet different styles of lights, but I was drawn to the dome pendant and the rope chandelier. Kate… do you think it would be stereotypical to have the sea creature wall paper in a bathroom? I have no boys, and would love to use it somewhere.

All the best for an extraordinary day!

  9. Does anyone else have issues every time they come to this blog where you are constantly directed away from this site to the Play store for some panda game? I never download games and this is the only site it happens on. Just wondering if it’s just me. It’s so annoying, I can’t stay on the site to browse because it redirects me every 30 seconds. Ideas?

    • wow Penny sorry about that, I haven’t heard of that happening here! Let me know if it continues.
