Weekend Reading

By Kate Riley December 19, 2014

Hello friends, hope you are well! The children are on break from school until January and we’re on our way to Las Vegas to spend time with our extended family. I can’t wait to finally get a real Christmas tree and play the stack of games we have lined up!

We will be working on the house as well, the laundry room is the next space we’re tackling, the fireplace mantel too. We still have no kitchen cabinets only a refrigerator, stand alone microwave, and coffee maker (ah, the joys of kitchen renovation) so food prep will be interesting, but thankfully we can cook up hot meals at my parents’ house down the street. I’ll be doing some late decking of the halls as well, a few wreaths, some ribbons and garland to set a holiday mood.

Here’s the roundup of favorite links from the week, enjoy!

Lovely December: holiday decor + snowy trees.

Favorite hues: blue, green, and gray kitchen cabinets.

Wallpapered laundry rooms, yes please.

A beautiful modern space: attic turned loft.

A scientific study of an all glass home.

20 famous movie houses.

Always fashionable: blue + white

Cutest DIY reindeer ever!

Simple & elegant: gilded laurel leaf wreath

Such pretty golden ornaments.

A wonderful and versatile DIY branch ladder.

Hubcaps turned animals, cool!

An inspiring story of weight gain and loss.

December rest.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hi Kate! Love your blog! When I click the links in this post, they aren’t taking me to the appropriate site…I keep getting redirected to Home Depot and another random holiday decor website…not sure what is up with that, but I thought I’d let you know.

  2. If I would you I would invest in a toaster oven! Either a cheap one just for your time there, or a good one like Brabantia to take home. You can cook food just like an oven, and who doesn’t like toast/toasted things. We lived with a microwave, fridge and toaster oven for 3 months and it was totally doable!

  3. I loved the movie houses! The house fron Something’s Gotta Give is missing but I think it was a set, but oh I loved that house. ( my iPad froze on 18 so I diidnt get to see 19 and 20!!!).

Great reads! Have a wonderful weekend xoxo
