The crush on all things spots and dots continues with the latest seasonal craft, strands and strands of sparkle confetti garland! We’re getting in the Christmas spirit around here, stringing up lights and ornaments. This year the decor is simple, concentrated mostly in the living room and the front porch since we will be spending Christmas Day away from home but still wish to enjoy the season around the house.
My ten year old girl likes to craft and decorate at Christmas too so we decorated a tree together and I added a mantel display, I’ll share that tomorrow. Here’s a look at our strands of confetti garlands and the easy steps on how to recreate.
There are a few versions of this garland online but many require a sewing machine, I didn’t want to run glitter cardstock through my machine and wanted my little girl to be a part so we used a simpler process, combining 1/8” ribbon and glittered scrapbook paper cut with two different punches, 1” and 1½” sizes.
Cut your ribbon as long as you wish (ours were 2 yards each) and glue two dots together to the ribbon with a glue stick so your strand is two sided.
With a little patience you’ll get strands of sparkle confetti garland for stringing up around the house through the New Year, fun to suspend anywhere, on mirrors, light fixtures, bookshelves, whichever spot needs a touch of sparkle.
Keep them wound up neatly in the off season and like any other garland and it will last for future parties and seasonal decor.
I reorganized all the holiday crafts and mantel displays from years past, find them here!

Wow looks amazing. Do u ever sleep though?
Ha yes Erin, a lot! I just stay busy during the day :)
Thank you for the lovely, simple idea. My 12yr old niece and I made a string of these tonight, was great fun and it looks amazing. She picked a black & white theme – black glitter, b&w damask, b&w chevron and white corrugated card. It was really chic and sweet to see how grown up her colour choices are becoming :)
Wow Libby, sounds so perfect, glad you were able to create a chic variation!
I looooooove the first image, especially that tree! Your sparkling confetti garland looks amazing :)
Hi Kate,
Love everything you do!! Where is the tree from? Or if a DIY can you please share a post? Your daughter is lovely, and getting so big!
The white tree Bernarda and Susan? I picked that up in the off season and Beverly’s Crafts years ago for $10 bucks, I use it every year. Can’t.Get.Enough.Of.White.Branches!
I’m not too crafty but this one looks doable – or, rather, you make it look so easy! You have likely mentioned in previous holiday posts but where did you get your manzanitas branch? I have one from West Elm and I can’t bring myself to paint it white… Thanks!!
LOL, goodness… I hope that didn’t come across that your version isn’t chic! It is indeed… we were going to use the same colours as you had, but couldn’t find any papers that we liked in silver & gold so had to improvise :)
Ha no not at all! Chic includes A LOT of great style ! :)
Oh boy, what a beautiful young lady she’s become!!! On another note, where did you get that braided tree thingy? I think I will be making this garland with my 13 and 16 year old girls. I guess I miss being a Brownie leader!
More cleverness and a great way to spend time with your beautiful girl.
So simple, and I love the paper you chose!
Such a wonderful idea to do with kids but soothing that still looks elegant and festive! Thank you for sharing!
