The Prettiest Baker’s Rack

By Kate Riley September 3, 2014

I was going to title this post How We Plan to Survive Living Without a Kitchen For Three Months but instead I shortened it to what it really is, the prettiest baker’s rack ever. We are starting on the kitchen remodel in the Nevada house in a few weeks (more details on that soon) which includes a total floor to ceiling demo so I came up with a solution for where to store our plates, bowls, and glassware so when we’re staying there we can eat and drink even while we are kitchenless until December.

I bought this Ceylon Baker’s Rack from Ballard Designs when it popped up on sale over the summer for two reasons 1) It was love at first sight: whitewash finish and fretwork doors! 2) It’s a versatile piece that will work anywhere, think bar in a living room, stylish display in a home office, storage in a breakfast nook, etc.

We will have a functioning refrigerator for the fall but no working appliances so we will be eating a lot of cereal and sushi and takeout while in town and paying visits down the street to my Mom and Dad’s house for hot meals. Right now the baker’s rack sits in the breakfast nook and I had some fun styling it in the space.

Many of the items shown I picked up on clearance so some aren’t available but for any pieces that still are, here are sources from top left: moroccan mosaic print / leafy seadragon watercolor / tea glasses / sushi rice bowls / glass candleholders / green rimmed glasses / utensil crock / bamboo silverware

I was lucky to snag the baker’s rack when it was on sale over the summer for $369 …

… right now it’s not on sale but I often see 15% discount coupons pop up in magazines like House Beautiful. Also watch for Ballard’s periodic furniture sales if you receive their emails or catalog in the mail.

Good news though, Ballard Designs is giving away one of their Ceylon Baker’s Racks to one of you! The lucky winner can pick which finish they want either whitewash or the teak finish. Note this piece is for use indoors or outdoors so you can use it to style a porch or patio vignette with plants, dishes, etc.

  4. I would actually put this in our master bathroom, we have a perfect spot and it would be super cute to display rolled towels, soaps, and cute bathroom canisters!!!! Love it!

  5. Not in the usual space. It would actually be perfect in my guest bathroom. Towels, toiletries etc.

  6. Ohhhhh Love the look! Would be oh-so-perfect and very functional on my covered porch since we eat outside every night we can! Thank you!

  7. I would love to put this on my patio to hold all the dog toys and potting supplies that are just wreaking havoc on my table out there!

  8. Oh man! This baker’s rack truly is so beautiful that I would put it in ANY room in my house ( that I spend a significant amount of time in, of course!), but it would either be put in our keeping room to store table setting items and realistically, probably some of the kids books…OR in our master bedroom with pictures and my jewelry and throws and so on!

  9. This gorgeous bakers rack would be offset my kitchen, I would style it according to seasons. It’s spectacular. It’d be great at Halloween to string spider garland around one of the tiers and then there would be endless opportunities with all the holidays to follow. I’m dreaming of the possibilities now….

  10. This would be a perfect addition to our guest bedroom… would be great for towels and a nice staging area for our guests’ odds and ends.

  11. I love this! The whole design and color scheme. I adore the whitewashed style. This piece is perfect for my tiny studio – it’s functional and beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration.

  28. Oh my goodness… I can’t even decide! I think it would work beautifully on my deck to serve as a bar and plant stand. BUT it’s so pretty I don’t know if I could leave it outside. 29. It would be SO PERFECT in our kitchen! I have just the spot for it by our kitchen table!

  33. I would use it in our new-to-us house in the large walkway between kitchen and living room. Cool piece!

I’d put mementos on the top shelf, papers in pretty file drawers on the second shelf, pens and other office supplies on the third, textbooks on the fourth, and the bottom would be perfect to hide my ugly printer and put a small box to store laptop/phone chargers.
Though someday when I have my own home, I’d love to use it as a real baker’s rack! :)

  48. The whitewash finish would look beautiful in my black and white ensuite – I can see it styled with plush white towels, an apothecary jar of soap, a glossy black vase…. Wonderful!

  49. In my dining room. Once we finish remodeling and get our king bed out of there it would look great!

  50. So pretty! I would use it in my upstairs hallway for storage of extra linens, candles and all sorts of miscellaneous items.

  52. I’d probably use this beautiful piece in my kitchen, but there’s a spot in my home office I’d like to try it in too!

  53. Such a pretty baker’s rack! I’ve been wanting some kind of shelf to put near our dining table, so it would probably go there. P.S. – Love the blue & green styling you did on yours!

  54. So pretty! I’m torn: should it live in our dining area or would it work better in our bedroom? It would certainly be at home here!

  55. Oh my gosh, I adore it! We are about to close on our first house, and it has the perfect spot for a piece like this- in a dining room that we are styling very informally.

  56. I absolutely love this and would put it in my kitchen. Lots of great storage and love the cabinets doors on the bottom. This could come in extremely handy.

  68. I would love to have this for my dining room or my kitchen! Both have ZERO storage (we are using an old, 1980s, orange oak dresser in the kitchen right now that, while better than nothing, is really not ideal at all. This is great!!!

  69. What a beautiful multi-purpose piece of furniture. I would place it in the half bath where storage is limited. It would add so much style to that nondescript room.

  70. It would look very pretty either in the family room or on the deck. Thank you for sharing.

  71. I would use the Ceylon baker’s rack in brown as a bookcase in my home office. The size is perfect and an unique form of storage for my favorite books, incoming and outgoing mail bin, baskets and other manuals organized for household documents. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.

  72. I could use such a versatile piece in so many places, but most likely in my kitchen or living room.

  79. I lust over pretty much every item on the pages of the Ballards catalog. This would be absolute perfection in our home office or our kitchen! I’m a bit giddy just thinking of the possibilities!!

  80. I would use the teak finish piece in my open floor plan dining/living room to store pretty barware, vases, etc!

  81. My husband and I are getting ready to redo our home office – or the sad sad corner that we are currently referring to as an office. Since I will use this space more, I think I deserve some feminine touches, like this piece! I might even get a second to make a real statement and fill a full wall. The price makes it possible!

  82. It’s such a gorgeous piece and I would put it in my kitchen/dining area. I live in a small apartment with not much kitchen storage, so it would be a perfect addition to my “dining area” to hold my favorite plates, cute jars filled with baking supplies, my cookbooks (which I haven’t found a good spot for so far) and other little decor and kitchen goodies! The white washed one goes with my decor best and it would be well loved and used in our little apartment home! Thanks for the giveaway! And I love what you did with yours!!! XX

  83. I think I would probably use it in our formal living room, although our recently finished sunroom would also be a possibility. I love the fact that it’s so versatile and that the depth is only 18 inches!

I love Ballard Designs!! I actually drove to their outlet store in mason, ohio from northern Illinois in August. I had to make a stop there. It was actually a detour on our way to the W&S Cinncinati Tennis Open.

  95. Love the white one! You have styled yours so beautifully, who wouldn’t want one! I have the perfect spot in my dining room for this piece, thanks for the giveaway!

  96. deeeeeefinitely could use some extra storage in my kitchen! I live in a tiny 1940’s cottage and apparently back then folks didn’t have a lot of stuff to put in the kitchen! There’s a total of 5 cabinets, not counting the ones right under the sink. Not much room to store food and dishes – really there’s just room for one or the other, so a lot of stuff is out in plain sight! It would be super helpful to have a pretty piece like that to store my dishes so I could actually put my food away! :) I absolutely love the whitewash finish. Really love how you’ve styled yours!!

  97. Beautiful piece! I’d love the white finish in my laundry room. It’s begging for an awesome piece of furniture :)

  98. I would use this in my current dining room, but since we’re selling our house, I love the fact that it could be used in so many different ways!

  99. I will like to use it in my daughters room and would place it on the walls on either side of the windows. This would be a good alternative for a bookcase. The top portion can work as a bookcase and the lower portion can store her toys.

  100. On our front balcony between the two windows. …still saving for the remodeling of the front of our house come next spring but I am collecting pieces now…the fretwork would go great with bamboo dining set from craigslist!

  105. I would use this in my kitchen for my microwave and storage due to lack of counter space. It’s gorgeous! I love the white.

  106. in my dining room, where we really need storage space for all sorts of things and currently have none! The teak finish is gorgeous!

  107. It would make a beautiful addition to my home office. Fresh flowers, interior design books, my new Bargello-inspired tray.

  108. It would go in the dining room and beautify all our everyday plates and glasses! Both finishes are sooo pretty!

  109. My roommates and I would love to replace our old ikea bookcase with this beautiful bakers rack!

  110. I would use it in our basement family room for storage and as a serving rack. i love both finishes!
    Thank you!

  111. Our kitchen really needs this!! We seriously lack storage space. Especially some beautiful storage that this would provide!! I’d love it in white!

  112. Such a gorgeous piece. For now, I have the perfect blank wall in my Kitchen for it. Someday, I’m going to be putting a door to the garden in that spot, so when that happens, I’ll move it in my new master bath, which by then will also be renovated with a space designed for a rack just like this. I’ve always wanted an open rack to store towels and pretty bath accessories. This is perfect.

  113. I love Ballard Designs and have a few of their pieces. Everything I have ordered from there has been great quality. This Ceylon Baker’s Rack in the whitewash color would look great in our guest bedroom wiith books, decorative items and and place for guests to place their keys, phones etc. The room is not very big so I like the idea of the 18″ depth. Thanks for the opportunity.

  114. Definitely my living room – yes, my dining room – or perhaps the kitchen – sooo many places I could put one ( or three)!

  115. We have been blessed with a lake home which we open to guests as often as possible. I would use this Ceylon Baker’s Rack by the back door to hold supplies to enhance our guests enjoyment. Summertime-beach towels, tubs of sunscreen, flip flops, goggles, water toys, etc. Fall-warm throws and s’more making kits to use around the fire pit. Christmas time-can you ever have enough places for Christmas displays? Springtime-flowers, gardening hand tools, board games, and binoculars to watch the returning birds. It would certainly get lots of use throughout the year.

  116. I would put it in my kitchen area. It’s a very small galley-style kitchen but I have a large eat-in area. I could really use the extra storage and I love this! Thanks!

  117. I’d use the white one on my newly painted sunporch for drinks and snacks. We just had a party and it would have been the perfect addition! Thanks!

  137. In my dining area. I need some storage in there and this is perfect. Might have to have 2.

  138. Ooooh. Was surprised and inspired by the indoor/outdoor element of the piece. Am looking forward to finishing up a new screened in porch off of our master bedroom this month and this would be an ideal addition to that space.

  139. Side deck. With the view over the palisades to the back and the woods to the side and front, our new deck needs to become a ‘room’.

  140. The Ceylon Baker Rack in white would fit perfectly next to my kitchen table. I would display my second set of glassware & table top items which are both functional as well as beautiful. A gal always welcomes a pretty piece of furniture to show off a collection of things which reflects what she loves and how she lives.

  141. We are currently preparing a baby room and I could see using this as a bookcase to display all the cute stuffed animals, toys in baskets, and of course books!

Maybe my diningroom or kitchen…maybe my daughter’s room!

  165. I love both colors. White for the bathroom; with towels, soaps, etc. Teak for the porch; glasses, plates and bar equipment.

  166. I would use it outside for the summertime and move it inside to my dining room for the rest of the year! What a pretty, functional piece!

  167. This would look great on my covered patio for entertaining! What a beautiful price of furniture!!

  168. I think I’d use it in our upstairs hallway. I’ve been looking for something to fill a nook and hadn’t even considered a bakers rack. It’s a great piece!

  169. The bakers rack would be ideal in a small studio apartment in lieu of traditional kitchen cabinetry. It would keep the small space open and airy and I encumbered by heavy cabinets. In addition, the display of favorite, colorful kitchenware provides a “life as art” approach to living in a small space!

  170. I think I’d use it in the dining room! I don’t have anything in there right now, and this would be perfect.

  171. I really like it and agree that it could be used anywhere. I would style it in my combined living/dining room for some extra pretty storage!

  172. Definitely would use in my Dining Room which is also serving as an office so extra storage for office items would be great.

  173. Love it and could use it multiple places but think dining room would be most awesome!

  174. I’d use it to finally carve out a little craft/sewing nook for myself. With the right baskets and containers, it would look stunning in my home.

  175. I could use this in my dining nook….and i’d add mirrors behind the doors and on the sides of the cabinet portion for a little more bling and junk concealment.

    I hope i win. :)

  176. I would use it in my dining room to hold serving dishes and linens and probably use it partly as a bar area too. So pretty!

  177. This is the most adorable plant stand!! I would MOST DEFINITELY use this on my screened-in porch. My husband and I just moved into our first house and haven’t quite gotten to styling our porch yet :)

  178. I love the fretwork detail. I think in white it would be a great piece for my daughter’s room. We are going to be transforming her room now that she is 5 into a big girl space that will hopefully last for years. This piece would add beautiful storage and make it feel more grown up. However , I am loving the teak option and would love it in our main living area. Hop I get to make the difficult choice. ;)

  179. Let’s see, the kitchen, no wait the family room, no maybe my office, oh, or the deck. I think it will be moving around with the seasons!

  180. I would use this GORgeous piece in my dining room and it would be great in the office as well. Thank you for such a generous giveaway!

  181. As a stand in for kitchen cabinets while we gut and reno the main floor and then a place of pride in the dining room

  182. Love this piece in the white for my home office, styled with pretty artwork, books and boxes hiding office supplies. Thank you for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.

  183. I would totally put this in our living room because this is such a beautiful piece and I can just picture it decked out with coral and nautilus shells.

  184. I’ve been looking for something to use as a bar and serving for my patio. I think I found it!

  185. Wow! what a beautiful piece of furniture! I could use it in the dining nook, or in the entry! Or even our master bath! :D

  186. Gorgeous design! I would use it on our screened back porch — it functions as another living area of the house, and that rack would fit in perfectly.

  187. This is a beautiful piece! I would put it in my beach condo and pile it with white dishes. Thanks for the chance to win it!

  188. I’d use it in my kitchen as I’m currently doing a mini re-do…I’d store my china and other pretties in it.

  189. Nicest baker’s rack I’ve ever seen. I would use it in our dining room or maybe the master bathroom.

  190. My kids’ newly renovated bathroom! We removed a huge ugly cabinet (think ’80’s kitchen cabinet from floor to ceiling) next to the toilet and I’ve been looking for a etagere piece to no avail. The whitewash piece would be perfect, especially over the herringbone marble tile floor.

  191. The teak in my backyard to dress up with plants and use as an outdoor bar with island style!

  192. I would love to have this piece in my breakfast nook. I agree it is The Prettiest Baker’s Rack Ever!!!
    Keeping my fingers crossed!
    Thanks.

  193. I would use it in the kitchen. BEAUTIFUL!!! Is that a piece of polish pottery on the second shelf up (sitting on the right side of the cutting board)? I’m a huge polish pottery collector and was surprised to see it for the first time in one of your posts – seeing how much you love the color blue! (Polish pottery is mostly in blue tones.)

  194. I have a wall in my kitchen that currently has a refurbished dresser and shelves …THIS would be a dramatic update for that space!

  195. I would use this piece in my dining/kitchen area. During a large he together I could also use it on the patio to extend our serving area.

  196. Oh, it would be such a fun wedding gift for my daughter as it would beautify an otherwise nondescript apartment!

  197. One bedroom of our home is our “cat room”. The bakers rack would be ideal for storing the extra sand in the bottom shelf behind closed doors and the upper shelving for towels, clippers, brushes, kibble, snacks and of course, photos of Milo and Omar!

  198. I would use that beautiful rack in my dining room for sure. It is really a versatile piece though, it could go at least two other places in my home!

  199. It would be a resident on my deck or in my kitchen. So very pretty! I’d choose the teak finish.

  200. It would be perfect in whitewash in my formal living room styled perfectly as a bar filled with pretty glasses, accessories, bar cookbooks and blue-toned entertaining pieces.

  201. The whitewash would be perfect as a book shelf and display in my master bedroom–been searching for a while for just the right piece—decorative and functional !!!

  202. This gorgeous rack would replace the one we have currently, a scrolly iron piece, that we found on the side of the road about 10 years ago. It has served us well, but this one would look so much better! I’m afraid I would want to sleep in the kitchen just to look at it :)

  203. A baker’s rack has been something I have been on the hunt for and I have the perfect place for it in my kitchen.

  204. In my dining area…I recently decided I need something tall to balance out my off centered and unsightly light fixture since changing it out isn’t an option!

  205. This would look great in our dining room or our family room. No idea how I missed this piece, its fab.

  206. I’d place it in my daughter’s bedroom for book, etc. storage. The space below would be used for her cozy sweaters and cardigans. It’s lovely!

  207. I have an open concept main floor so it would go in the family room/dining room area and would be great to store and showcase some of our collected treasures from travelling.

  208. Absolutely love Ballard! I would put the white rack in my breakfast nook and the stained rack would go in my screened-in porch. :-)

  209. Dining room for me! But I could picture in my hallway, bathroom and on my deck! One for every space!

  210. What a gorgeous piece! And you styled it to perfection. I’d love to use this in our sunroom.

  211. I have the perfect spot i’ve been looking for something like this for in my living room. But it would also work great for some MUCH needed pretty storage in my office/craft room!

  212. I am a fan of Ballards but must admit I’d never seen that piece. It is gorgeous. I would use it in my newly remodeled breakfast room, since the remodel went over budget and I’ve got no $ left for furniture!

  213. Oh my goodness, I love this piece. You styled it so beautifully! I would love this bakers rack in my screened-in porch.

  214. Oh my gosh, that piece is perfect for my sunroom/office/dining room–it’s a very multi-funcitonal room.

  215. Not sure where in my current home, but we are hoping to purchase a larger home soon. It’s just so gorgeous, I know I’d find a spot.

  216. I would love to incorporate all of my cacti collection that I bring indoors every Minnesota winter. This would be the perfect rack! I would also store my large platters on the bottom behind the doors! Would fit wonderfully with my white kitchen cupboards!!

  217. I love it! It would look great on my new patio. I can see Thanksgiving dishes and display on it. Must have it!

  222. Beautiful piece! We are redecorating our master bathroom and this would make a gorgeous display for our towels, washcloths, glass jars for cotton balls and pretty soaps. And I would add bath salts and candles for my own little spa display. Heavenly…

  223. I think I’ll use the Ceylon Baker’s Rack in my bathroom. Love the withe finish. Very airy yet substancial.

  224. I would put this in my kitchen. I just moved into a brand new home (new contraction) and I hardly have any furniture. This speaks to me and would look great with my 10 foot ceilings!

  225. I’ve been watching for end of season sales to fancy up our covered deck. It is in such need of some pretty. Would LOVE to have this piece in white to go with my painted table and chairs.

  226. I would use the white-washed finish on my screened-in porch. It would be wonderful to have the extra storage and serving area. Love Ballard! Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.

  227. Oh I love this! It would be the perfect addition to our dining room. I need something open to store glasses & platters, & has such a unique look!

  228. I would use this rack in our new house. We have a lovely sun room / breakfast room that is huge and I have no furniture for yet (and no budget this year to buy furniture). I am hoping to do a mixture of French provincial and farmhouse in that room, and this shelf in white washed would be a lovely baker’s rack / buffet space as well as charming spot for the regularly used dishes. 234. I love that this could be used indoors or outdoors! We are remodeling our back patio and this would be perfect! I have my eye on some other lovelies from Ballard for our remodel too!

  238. Awesome! Thanks for the chance to win! I would use the baker’s rack on my screened porch!

  239. I just completed an outdoor kitchen and this would be the perfect finishing touch to this space. Great storage and would coordinate beautifully with everything I already have in place.

  240. I love that piece. So gorgeous! Like you said it would work great in a number of rooms. I was thinking about using it in the bathroom to hold lots of fluffy towels and extra toiletries. Of course I would also have to add a few pretty accessories too.

  241. Beautiful piece. This would be perfect in our screen room next to our outdoor dining table!

  242. This is the prettiest bakers rack I’ve ever come across. I would love this piece in our open concept kitchen/dining room. It would make the perfect wine bar. So pretty. Thanks for sharing.

  245. Gosh – what a cute piece. It would be perfect in the carriage house we’re in the process of remodeling . . . .

  246. The first place I would use it would be in our outdoor room to use as a temporary bar. Perfect! And when it becomes cold here, I would bring it inside to use in my hallway for my indoor plants and for a place to use for storing scarfs, gloves and whatnots. Of course, I would have baskets and bins to help with the sorting! Love this rack!

  255. Love this piece – agree that there would be many uses for it – but it would start out in our dining room as a bar

  256. My oldest daughter graduated from our local community college and planned to transfer to a school in another state, so the changes she wanted for her bedroom were put on hold. Instead, I redecorated my youngest daughter’s room, which turned out great. Well, as luck would have it, the financial aid my oldest needed didn’t come through the way we needed, so she’s back home working on a new plan for school. I now feel compelled to finish her room. This piece would be perfect for her small space and her eclectic design sense. We’re leaning towards a Victorian Steam punk theme and I could see this filled with books and oddities!

  257. I would love this amazing baker’s rack in my sewing room! Perfect to display all that fabric and notions that are too beautiful to kept in the closet! I love the white!

  258. Gorgeous! I would love to put the whitewash baker’s rack in my kitchen!
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  260. Love the teak color! I could use this in our dining room, kitchen or outside covered deck.

  261. I would love this piece in the teak finish because it would be so timeless and I could use it on our covered porch to store so many things. Great find!

  262. The Ceylon Baker’s rack from Ballard Designs would be snazzy in my aqua guest room– outfitted with a few amenities for overnight guests, leaving open space for their belongings

  263. Beautiful piece!!! This would be perfect in our covered outdoor patio area – would get year round use here in Florida! :-)

  264. Love the idea of the teak version of this beautiful rack to add perfect dimension and utility to the space between two kitchen windows on our pool lanai. Perfect for anchoring pool party necessities!

  265. We just moved in to our first home and we have a dining room wall that is just begging for this!

  266. I have actually been looking for the perfect bakers rack for at least a year now. I would place it in an awkward to fill corner in my kitchen between a window and the (tiny) wall that separates the living room. This would be perfect!

  267. I would put this beautiful bakers rack on my screened in porch! I love the fact it can be used in an semi-outside location. Just beautiful!!

  268. This would be the perfect addition to our backyard outdoor space. We’re just getting started on this area of the house and I think this would be a great place to start.

  269. I would use it in my newly renovated dining room! I’ve been looking for the perfect credenza and never thought to incorporate a baker’s rack. Normally they’re very country looking, but this one is much more modern. Love it!

  270. I would put it near my kitchen and turn it into a coffee station for my husband. His addiction to fancy coffee has left me wanting for extra counter space since his machine/coffee grinder take up so much space. This would be perfect! Thanks!

  271. This is such a pretty piece! So very much your style. I would love to have one of these, we are remodeling our deck soon and it would be the perfect addition!

  272. This beautiful piece will look great in the small dining room of the little cottage home my husband and I are remodeling (and hope to move into soon). It is very versatile piece so we could also use it in our kitchen, patio, or bedroom – love it!

  273. HOLY.PERFECT.TIMING!! I have been searching high and low for a piece this size and style too for my hall library nook/book shelving! How I love your style and this piece is perfection for my space!! I love the whitewash color too! So thanks for the awesome give away! :)

  274. I would love to use this in my soon to be personal exercise/craft room. I want it pretty and practical and the bakers rack would be perfect to hold both items for it’s purpose (think bottles of water, towels and a basket with thread, scissors, etc.

  275. I would love to put this close to the bar in our newly finished basement…or on the deck, I can’t decide!

  276. Perfect timing here too! I’d put it in my bathroom! I was just getting ready to hang some shelves, because I didn’t want to spend the money on a piece like this.

    It would be perfect!

  277. OMG I LOVE this piece!!! I could use it in so many different areas of my home: bedroom, office, or family room where I dead space in between my laundry room door and sliding glass doors to the deck. 283. This is beautiful! We moved into our first house this summer, and I really need some more storage between my living and dining rooms. This would be perfect!!

  284. Teak for me please! I would actually use this in our living room. We just moved into a 1960’s ranch & have this big, empty alcove next to the fireplace in the formal living room that is crying out for a shelving/display piece!

  285. On the deck! I’ve been looking for a piece like this to store our outdoor dining/grilling stuff and this is perfect! Not eve sure if I’d get teak or white…..

  286. Love this beautiful bakers rack! There are so many spaces in my home where this would work perfectly – but I would use it in the upstairs landing for linen/blanket storage and display photos, books, and art on the upper shelves. Add a cozy chair next to it and it would make a cozy reading spot.

  287. It’d be hard to choose which finish as they’re both lovely – I think I’d put it on my patio!

  288. I would use it in my newly renovated kitchen, there is one wall left, and it would be perfect!

  289. Although Im obsessed with baker’s racks and would have a hard time parting with this beauty, I would give this to my son and his fiancé for a wedding present. I believe they’d choose the teak finish. They would love this for their new home…in or outdoors. Hmmm…then there’s my other newly married son with his new home and patio. I suppose I’d need to purchase one for them!

  290. I would use it in my kitchen! I love this design and it is so hard to find a white baker’s rack!!

  291. That rack is absolutely beautiful and I love the way you styled it. I am torn about where I would use it because it’s such a versatile piece. I can imagine it blending in very well in my dining room which matches the wainscoting. Decisions, decisions, I hope I win it!

  295. We just remodeled our kitchen and before I even knew this was a giveaway, I thought the white one would be perfect in my kitchen near my french doors.

  296. I’d actually use the white finish in my living room to replace an old ladder style bookcase I’ve had since right after college!

  297. Crazy, I know. I would use it in my washroom. Love the idea of beachy accents, rolled towels and lovely potions etc.

  299. I would use on the wall right outside our kitchen to hold servicing pieces and other pretty dishes that don’t fit in my tiny kitchen!

  300. What a gorgeous piece! There are a few places I could use the teak one — in the dining room, foyer, or even the guest room. Decisions, decisions!

  301. I can see how this piece caught your eye. It is really versatile and so attractive. I would like to use in my office between two desks and in front of a long window. It would be beautiful to show off books and potted plants etc. Since my desks are both dark wood the white fininsh would be a smart contrast. Thanks for an opportunity to win!

  302. So pretty! In a heartbeat, I would use this in our master bathroom – – have the blank wall ready for it! It would look lovely with beautiful jars of soap, neatly folded towels and pretty decorative pieces in turquoise.

  303. Call me crazy, but I would use it in the alcove of our loooooooooooong hallway to help break up what seems like a bowling alley with bedrooms off it. Since it is down by where all of the kids bedrooms are located, I would use it to store childrens games, books and showcase their artwork. And since their arwork is to brightly colored, I would lean towards the white finish version.

    Dawn in Sac

  304. My daughter is moving to a larger home, so she has a lot of bare walls to fill, and I think this rack would look beautiful anywhere. Or maybe I’ll keep it for me!

  307. I would use it in our kitchen! I think it’s be perfect to show off some of my vintage Pyrex! =)

  308. I would use it in the guestroom, to have books, water, glasses, and a clock. I would store extra blankets in the bottom and leave space on the top for the guests to put their laptop or iPad. I love both but maybe the teak will be more timeless?

  309. This beautiful piece would be perfect for my patio! We live at the beach so we dine on the patio most of the year, what a beautiful addition this would be!

  310. We have a sunporch that would be great for this piece, but I also think it would be fabulous in a bathroom with pretty white towels and cute accessories!

  312. I have the perfect spot for the whitewashed version in my dining room. It would be a nice contrast to my darker table. I actually have been searching for something for this narrow spot for a while! Just love it so please pick me!!!

  313. I would love to have this to use on our side porch with my great-grandparents wicker furniture. It would be awesome!

  317. I love the white washed Baker’s rack. I would use it on my screened in porch. We eat every meal out there from April through October.

    Thanks for the chance!

  320. I would use the Ceylon’s Baker’s rack in my dining room. I would use as an additional serving and display space.

  321. I would use it in the room that goes out on the deck to keep goodies on for snacking and eating out on the deck.

  322. What a gorgeous piece! I’m so torn between the teak for outdoors or the white for the dining area… I’m leaning towards white!

  323. I love the white one! I would use it in my dining room!!! I love the idea of displaying my extra dishes and vases in it! Thank you for the opportunity to win one!

  324. My orchids would love a new home on my patio! Here is sunny South Florida, you would be able to see this delicious baker’s rack through my sliding glass door in my dining room and it would be adorned with all sorts of wonderful and mysterious flowers. 328. Absolutely gorgeous piece! I would put it in my back yard and use it as a stand for my herb garden.

  329. I love both versions, but would pick the whitewashed one! I think I would use it for storage in my office/guest room. I could put baskets on the bottom for extra linens and display all sorts of pretty things on the shelves. Gorgeous!

  330. Well you certainly hit the nail on the head with the title of this post. Gorgeous. I would use it in my dining room to store serving bowls and trays. That would give me some MUCH needed additional cupboard space in our small, poorly designed rental apartment kitchen! I thought I was totally sold on the white but now that I look at them more it would be a challenge to choose one over the other.

  331. I would use it in my dining room to store serving dishes. The white rack would look great against my grey blue walls. Thanks!

  332. I’ve just decided to change our office into a family room…this would be a wonderful addition. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  333. Oh my goodness…..so many decisions. I think I would pick the whitewashed one and use it in my kitchen for some open storage.

  334. That is so beautiful! Just moved into a new house and finally have a formal dining room. I would definitely put it in the dining room for nice barware and glasses. It would look perfect!

  335. Love this! I need a piece line this that’s not only pretty but so functional
I have been looking for something to use on my covered side porch not only to store but to use during
Serving meals and entertaining! I prefer the whitewashed finish because it works best with my existing
    Porch furniture. Lovely!!!

  336. I love the white washed one! It is absolutely one of the best one I have seen! It would look awesome in my dining/living room. I can put lots of cute accessories on it as well as beverage serving items. Thank you!

  337. We moved into our new home in July and are in the process of furnishing a sunroom for the first time. This piece would look fabulous in the room and would be perfect for hosting friends this fall.

  338. I would use it as a bar in my living room. Can’t decide between the finishes though.

  339. I love them both, but think the teak finish would work best for me. I have the perfect spot for it on my covered patio. :-)

  340. This would be wonderful in my dinning room. Need the extra space for the holidays. I never have enough space for all the wonderful food and serving plates for my guests. White wash would work for me!

  341. I can’t decide on the finish but I would put it in our dining room or a family room. It is a beautiful piece and you styled it beautifully

  342. My little getaway cabin definitely needs some pretty kitchen storage. I am already styling it in my head !!!

  343. While I don’t have room for one in my kitchen. And while my dining room ceases to exist because I turned into my coffee house style office, I would love to have the white washed one in my art room. Ooh! I’m excited just thinking about how I could style my camera equipment, my watercolors, and my whatsajigs! It would look fabulous!

    Glad you snagged one! *jealous*

    -Christine

  344. I would use the white washed one in our totally redone, yet to put in cupboards, kitchen/dining room.

  345. I would use one in my bathroom or in my sewing room – those shelves would be perfect for showing off bundles of folded fabrics. It would go in nearly any room – the hard part would be deciding on a finish!

  346. Oh my gosh, I have been looking for a rack/cart for our dining room for a while now, and this one would be PERFECT! I am in love!!

  347. I’d use the white wash on my back patio. I have a huge patio and so far only lawn chairs on it since moving in May.

  348. I would use the white one outside on my front porch. It would be such a fun piece to decorate!

  349. I like the white one. I would use it in the new screened in porch we are designing as a bar. It would be so great with a hot chocolate station.

  350. Oooh! I love this! We will be moving into our new home this fall and I’m mentally arranging our furniture all the time. I think this lovely baker’s rack in white would work well in the entryway off the garage. Styled with some pretty baskets to collect the mail and school papers that I don’t want to have dropped on the kitchen island, it would be a beautiful sanity saver!

  351. This would be a wonderful piece in any room. My first thought for the white washed one is in our master bath. I also love the idea of using either finish as a bar.

  352. I love the whitewash! I will most likely use it in the patio with all of my bbq dishes, candles, etc. Beautiful!

  353. I love the whitewashed finish and I would use it in my home office/reading space. It is beautiful! My collection of vintage children’s hardback books will look cute alongside my kids’ pottery. I’d style it out with some succulents in crisp, white planters and accent it with framed pics from my Etsy store. SO PRETTY! (and functional!)

  354. Love, Love, Love the whitewash finish! I can imagine using it outside on the deck or in the kitchen to disply the essentials for daily life. It’s the perfect size for each area.

  355. That whitewashed rack is calling my name! We just remodeled our kitchen and I have an empty wall that needs a bookcase/rack on it. I want to use it for our coffee station. Its just perfect for that spot!

  356. Love it! Would use it in my kitchen to store serving dishes and display seasonal items. Great piece that could be transitioned to multiple places.

  357. I would use it in my dining room as storage for my great aunt’s china that right now is sitting in a box in the garage because there is no room for it anywhere else!

  358. My home office or my living room – both have a casual beachy vibe and this piece would be perfect.

  359. I would love the whitewash finish in my kitchen… It would beautifully display things we use every day!

  360. This would we perfect in my (small) dining room to store bar ware or items that are taking up precious real estate in the kitchen. Great giveaway!

  361. I could seriously imagine this in any room in our house it’s so pretty and versatile. But, if I had to choose, I think I’d use it in the family room. We considered bookshelves, but I think this would make a much prettier backdrop for books and decorative items.

  362. I would totally use this in the master dressing room of our new/old house (est 1906). I can see displaying my clutches, jewelry and all other forms of pretty girly things!

  363. My kitchen because it’s the exact dimension to fit in a nook where I need extra storage (and can’t afford built ins or new cabinets). I have those melamine plates from Target as Kate has in her photo, so I’d definitely copy the styling as well!

  364. I would definitely get good use of this in my kitchen. We don’t have a pantry which makes for extremely crowded cabinets. I would love to pull out my nicer glassware and other displayable items to create more storage space!

  365. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the whitewashed Ceylon Baker’s Rack. I would use it in the guest bedroom I’m redoing in lime, aqua, white and navy with hints of coral. Perfect for storage as well as useful for our overnight guests with items they may need during their stay
    Beautiful!!!.

  366. In my small, open eat-in kitchen. I don’t have a dining room and this would be perfect to use as a server/buffet for entertaining.

  367. I would use it in my dining room, to display glassware, vases and (as I’m a knitter) yarn.

  368. Oooo, that Baker’s Rack – I would use it on my screened in porch! Or my dining room? Or my kitchen? Or my bedroom? There a TON of places to use that pretty thing!!!

  369. On our newly refinished patio for sure! Or maybe in the dining room….or maybe in my office. So many options!

  370. This could actually be really cute storage in a bathroom too! All this cute pretty things that never get displayed otherwise, like candles, a plant, jewelry, towels, etc. Super cute storage!

  371. I love Ballard Designs, and this piece is absolutely beautiful. I would use this in my living room as a mini library and display of beautiful pieces.

  372. I would use it in entry Foyer as it is connected wit main dining room to show case all of my canning. I have been thinking what type of bakers rack I could use or if I should build my own to display my canning jars with delicious goodies and some of my vintage plates in the mix. Would love the white wash to match my home colors.

  373. I would use is either in our guest room or outside on our back patio. Decisions, decisions!

  374. I would love this in my dining room which is pretty much just an extension of our open living room – and I would definitely go for the white wash just like yours!

  375. In my kitchen to store (and display) the fruits and vegetables I canned from the garden!

  376. Love this piece! I would use this in my apartment as a bar and to display decorative items.

  377. LOVE the white baker’s rack!! Would use it to display bright beautiful dishes in my new kitchen. Could only afford half of the kitchen cabinets so this would be PERFECT on the opposite wall!

  378. We would definitely use it in our new yarmouth blue dining room! We just purchased the Winslow dining set from Ballards and would love to spice up the country look with this bakers rack in white!

  379. This would be a Christmas present for my son. He has purchased his first home and I have been looking for a beautifully simple piece to give him to use as a bar.

  380. In my kitchen!!! We only have an eat-in kitchen (no dining room) and space is limited! It is hard to find a non-bulky piece of furniture that will simultaneously create storage while also allowing me to “show off” some of my prettier pieces. And, in a cramped eat-in kitchen, open shelving and those gorgeous doors wouldn’t make the space feel cluttered!

  381. I love the teak finish! I’ve actually been looking for a piece similar to this for my living room, I’d use it to hold a decorative variety of my milk glass collection, books, and use the cabinet doors to hide more media I can’t yet part with. (Rare cd’s are not re-downloadable.)

  382. I think I would use it in my formal dining room. Everything we have in there is “formal” with the exception of a rustic, raw-wood type mirror. I think adding this in would help soften the room and fortunately, the lines resemble my dining table pretty closely.

  383. So many possibilities – in our home office, in the dining room, or maybe in the kitchen – we are also in the remodeling process, so it would possibly be moved around to all three during the process!

  384. I would use it in our guest suite for a small TV, baskets of beach accessories, and guest towels. In Florida, on the water, there are always guests at our house!

  385. I would put it next to the door going out to the pool for towels and sunscreen, along with melamine dishware and glasses for eating/drinking poolside.

  386. I would love to use it in our living room, adjacent to our dining room. We currently have a smaller, much less pretty bakers rack in that position, and this one would fit so much better! Our current bakers rack is metal and will work great out on our lanai if I win this pretty one :)

    Thanks for the giveaway!!!

  388. It’s so beautiful! I would put it in my kitchen as an inspiration to bake more often.

  389. What a beautiful bakers rack! I would love to use it in my downstairs bedroom, the one that my son finally moved out of!!!! it would be a great piece to store and display my stuff, not his! yeah!

  390. I would use it upstairs in my hallway…I don’t have a linen closet so I would display my extra blankets and throws (the pretty ones of course). I would also add a basket or small wooden crate with trial size toiletries I gathered after traveling a lot in the past for work and staying in very nice hotels. That way guests can help themselves !

  391. I love the whitewash and I would use it to put my cookbooks and some pretty items in the hallway the you see from the kitchen.

  392. My kitchen is hurting for more storage space and there’s a blank space of wall in it where this beautiful baker’s rack would sit just perfectly. Here’s hoping it graces our presence soon!

  393. I have THE PERFECT wall in my kitchen that currently has a filler piece. I always wanted a baker’s rack there. I also have a great spot on my covered back porch (the hacienda). I think the natural finish would look best for me.

  405. Oh wow, this baker’s rack is gorgeous! This is tough – I’d love the white one as an organizer in our office/craft area, but I’d love the teak one for a garden table/buffet/bar for our screened-in porch. Hmm! :)

  425. So beautiful – the white would be wonderful on our screened porch or in our second kitchen.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  426. I would definitely use that baker’s rack on our porch. am looking for a way cool storage piece for a portable bar out there!
