BOTB 6.20.14

Summer fever has taken over my body and soul this week, I’m loving these lazy days spent sleeping in and chillaxing around town, I have this feeling my “affliction” will worsen in the coming weeks and I’m not going to fight it. :) I’m storing up energy for the demo we face in July at the new house so I’m distracting myself with a few great reads, I’ll share them soon once I get through the stack. Is there any book in particular you’re loving this summer?

This weekend it’s another round of ‘Best of the Blogosphere’, enjoy these inspiring spaces and projects! I’m so impressed with this beautiful galley kitchen makeover, don’t miss the story and the before, bravo to Nicole of the House Diaries for creating an amazing modern kitchen.

Katie at Bower Power transformed her all wood cabinet kitchen into a classic beauty with white paint and tile, so pretty!

Erin’s powder room is stunning showcasing new Thibaut wallpaper, get the sources and see the before at House of Turquoise.

How pretty are these painted watercolor curtains? They were inspired by a Jonathan Adler box, get the step by step by Julia over at Cuckoo for Design.

We love a great knock off – here’s an acrylic folding tray project that looks darn close to the CB2 inspiration! via Brit + Co.

Here’s another notable Pottery Barn knock off just in time for summer lounging outdoors, these jars turned nautical Hyannis lanterns by Lauren at Lo and Behold.

Hate your hollow core doors? Jenna Sue came up with a brilliant way to transform a plain door into a salvaged door lookalike with veneer, trim, and stain.

It’s all in the details! Look how washi tape totally transformed basic white shelving in Griffin’s daughter’s room at Design Itch.

I’m always inspired how people make the world more beautiful with a little DIY creativity… Thanks to Amanda for rounding up some of these projects too.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I just finished Blessings by Anna Quindlen and really enjoyed that. I’ve just begun The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and was instantly intrigued. I think you would enjoy both.

Be sure to give us your book list.

  2. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the white kitchen cabinets – although I have to address the issue of my tile/carpet/tile floors (i.e., a #10 envelope with too many postage stamps) first before I redo my kitchen, I’m having some silly fun draping the cabinets in whatever white materials I have and squinting very hard to get the effect of light and bright instead of the 1980s oak. Longing for a white French country kitchen and collecting tons of inspiration – especially love the galley kitchen.

And what fun with the door redo – gives me inspiration for the always-open door to my master bedroom which is partially seen from the foyer and right now is just a boring sheet of white.

  3. Loving all these gorgeous projects and really excited to see your new home and the way you transform everything. Happy Saturday from Pleasanton! :) xoxo
