Takeaway Tuesday: Gray + White Kitchen

By Kate Riley May 7, 2013

I continue to love white kitchens for their timeless appeal and this one is definitely a favorite for several reasons. It’s light and bright yet warm and inviting, combining traditional and modern style to make one stunning space. Here’s today’s episode with five great takeaways from this breathtaking kitchen!

  1. This kitchen looks great. I really like the light fixtures and naked windows. My only change is that I’d like the stools to be a tad darker wood and maybe more modern than the traditional ones shown here. So glad to see everyone embracing full height tile! Thanks, Kate, for sharing this great kitchen!

  2. Beautiful kitchen and agree with the take away points Kate! I’m on the verge of a kitchen reno and this is another inspiration for me. Thanks!

  3. I really do love that gray brick with the white cabinets! I think that’d be our pick in our dream kitchen. And the natural light! I’m starting to think any space with good natural light is beautiful in my book!

  4. I’m totally with you on the classic white kitchen and this one is beautiful! Thanks for the “tour” :).

  5. The funny thing is that my favorite part is those salmon/coral colored number dots that you added! That would be such a perfect “pop” of color in this beautiful kitchen!

    • Ha Amy, I agree! I was playing off the copper pot…. but apricot/coral/salmon always looks gorg with gray!

  6. I have had an all white kitchen my entire adult life. I think I will always have an all white kitchen. I LOVE the traditional architecture of the island and the hood mixed with the glass tile! And of course the pot filler. One of my favorite additions to my kitchen ~ being Italian and the copious amounts of pasta cooked….. ;)

  7. It is gorgeous! I really love the backslash brought all the way up to the ceiling, I have never seen this before, so pretty. I will have to look at more of Allison’s designs. We have to demo all of our lower cabinets, counters and backsplash due to mold and I am having such a hard time trying to decide how to incorporate our upper cabinets. Thank you for the inspiration, have a great week!

  8. I love the molding and trim above the stove. I’m guessing thats’s the hood.

And I will be using very similar when I redo my kitchen. Classic and timeless.

  9. I am loving the grey backsplash along with that gorgeous lighting!! I have been browsing your paint colors and I just wanted to know if you wouldn’t mind telling where you got that beautiful rug in your living room? I have been looking for a rug with color for our living room. Those colors and style may just be the way I will go. You have such a beautiful home and it seem like its very well lived in but with a magazine feel!! That’s what I’m goin for!! Thank you for all allowing us into your home!!

  10. The Oversized pendants – On my “Wish List” -If only I could find them in Australia…”sigh”

  11. Bonjour from France! Do you think I could pull off the grey tile with the ikea white kitchens, the lidingo – which is actually an off white…

You have beautiful taste and have been a wonderful inspiration as I slowly but surely turn my house in to a home for our family. Merci!

  12. I must say I absolutely love waking up in the mornings and reading your newest post (usually from the previous day.) I love this kitchen and am completely smitten with those bar stools. Anything with that old-world feel is awesome is in my book especially in a kitchen! Do you know where I could purchase some fabulous grey bar stools like that?

  13. I’m actually planning to do grey & white kitchen with green accessories. Love the colour combination. white will be the timeless colour. Island in the kitchen is a must have. I love to cook and my husband tooo. The island gives the space for both of us to work around the kitchen, so I’m a a big fan.

  14. There’s such a great mix of styles and finishes in this kitchen. There’s no busy patterns (ie: backsplashes) or trendy colors (ie: espresso – which is done anyways) to tire of so it will likely never look ‘out of style’. Will builders out there please take note?!

  15. I absolutely love this kitchen. I’m in the middle of kitchen reno right now. I was toying with the idea of grey cabinets. I really love the backsplash idea better. Do you mind sharing the tile color. Is it ceramic or glass. Simply gorgeous!
    I love your blog!

    • Hi Sherry, I love it too! Unfortunately I don’t know the actual brand but if you contact the designer, she may share it with you!

  16. Natural light through a window is great – during the day. At night, you’re living in a fish bowl with no window covering whatsoever. If it were my kitchen, would add, at a minimum, a semi-sheer panel that I could drop down at night, tie up some hooks during the day to look like a mini-valence. Even if you live in a forest, you never know who may be passing by, and these days, who wants to live in a fish bowl? It’s a small world after all…

  17. I love a white kitchen with classic white subway tile. However, the gray subway tile here adds just a touch of something extra to break up all the white. It looks like the counters are marble, which is another wonderful pairing of gray and white. The chairs are too traditional for my tastes, but I love everything else!
