Takeaway Tuesday: Colorful Sitting Space

By Kate Riley April 23, 2013

I’m sitting at my desk today awaiting news of what happened to our sweet cat Coco, she’s at the vet right now and it’s hard to think about anything but what might be wrong (she’s in a lot of pain and barely able to walk since I found her curled up on the porch). I have to get my mind off of the situation while I await the X-ray results so I sat down to distract myself and Pinterest is always a great place to start.

I was going through some of my favorite images and thought up a new series on the fly – a “takeaway” series where I highlight a favorite image and point out five great takeaways from it.

Here’s a favorite from Katie Rosenfeld that I love so much for these reasons.

Thanks to everyone for your sweet sentiments on Instagram, thankfully the kids are at school so they are unaware. I’m headed back to the vet in an hour, I’ll keep you posted on the kitty cat news.

*** kitty cat update: she was bit by a very large dog within the last 12 hours and has a bite wound in her left leg but has been given pain medicine and antibiotics. She will live and is sleeping now, thanks everyone for your concern, we’re glad she will be okay.

  1. Oh no Kate! I hoping and praying little Coco will be okay. That’s the name of our little kitty as well and my kids would be heartbroken if anything happened to her!
    I’ve always loved this room..

  2. God bless little Coco. You’re a good Mommy, Kate, to get her right to the doctor to see what’s going on. I hope all will be well.

  3. Oh man Kate, I hope the kitty is ok. It’s probably good that the kids are at school, hopefully you will know something before they get home. Love your “on the fly” take-away series. I wish I had that much creativity to come up with series like that…that’s why your the queen and I’m not lol I’ll be thinking of you today and hoping your kitty is on it’s way to recovery.

  4. So glad little Coco will be OK. Poor baby, mean old dog. They are pretty resiliant and she should heal well. We have so many dogs in our area plus a busy road and we keep our kitty baby inside. Well, he does go on our screened porch but that is as close to nature as he gets these days. We have coyotes in the area too and they show themselves during the day even.

  5. Sending positive thought Coco’s way. It’s always hard when pets are sick or hurt. They’re really part of the family too. Love the room you chose for your takeaway series. :)

  6. So glad your sweet kitty is going to be all right. I can not imagine finding her that way. Now I can go back and read the post. Prayers for a fast recovery, for her and you!

  7. Glad to hear your cat is doing better:) I am so in love with that room… saw it on another blog the other day and already had pinned it. I think my favourite part is how there is a lot going on but it all works together so perfectly because of the ways that the colours flow. Great inspiration pic!

  8. I didn’t happen to read this until you’d posted the 2nd update, so I was spared the worry, but I’m so glad for a good ending! How fortunate that she made it back home with a leg wound — and how fortunate she is to have such a caring family.

  9. Love the takeaways! And love the inspiration! AND sooo glad Coco is okay and on the mend. As a fellow kitty mama, I can imagine the sadness knowing your kitty is hurting! xo ~ Virginia @ LiveLoveDIY

  10. What a lovely room, Kate! The design is superb and full of life. You are my inspiration when it comes to room designs. Anyway, I hope Coco is okay.

  11. Could not even read this post until I scrolled to the end to see if you had an update on Coco!!! Glad to hear she will be fine, after some rest and painkillers:) By the way, love the new series!!

  12. Oh my, that room is just drool worthy, but I am a sucker for everything blue and green. And this room hits it perfectly! So sorry to hear about your cat but glad she’s going to be okay!

  13. Relieved that Coco’s injury is treatable! Antibiotics to the rescue. Love your idea for takeaway tuesdays and highlighting what’s gorgeous and working in a particular room. The font and color you are using to detail those observations is easy on the eyes and fresh! just like this first image of your series.

  14. LOVING ‘takeaway tuesdays’! and SO glad to hear about Coco ~ whew!

btw~ THANKS for including the update in the same post!

  15. The room is beautiful and some of my favorite colors. I am so glad CoCo will recover. I am a tremendous animal lover – we lost our 12yr old Boxer, Emma, last thursday and we miss her terribly. Precious little CoCo – I am so sorry she had to experience that. Take care.

  16. So glad to learn your cat will be ok. Poor little thing! They very quickly become part of your family and when they are sick, it is such a worry. Hope she recovers quickly!

  17. I love take away tues! There are so many great roms out there, it’s great to hear you articulate why the room is so great! Your blog is great!!!! Glad Coco is okay!!!
