Fall Sprucing, Favorite Picks!

By Kate Riley September 14, 2012

I’m excited to spend some time over the next two weeks sprucing up our home for fall since the Fall Link Parties start next week!  I’ll be using a lot of what I’ve got, but I have my eye on a few new things for cozying up the casa. I love the yummy colors of autumn: pumpkin, cognac, olive, fig, aubergine, and amber.   Fall is not only about color but texture too, think warm metallics, wood finishes, and cozy throws for chilly nights by the fire.

For fun, I did a little virtual shopping, and picked out a collection of fall favorites for the home and tabletop.

  1. Gotta love Fall in Florida! :) My favorite parts about getting ready for fall in my home are to get out the fall scented candles – Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Pie and Apple Cinnamon are my favorites! I am also super excited to have Pumpkin Spiced coffee back on the shelves. I’ll probably have to stock up before they go away until next season!

  2. I’m kinda sorta transitioning. I am planning the decor in my head but I am a bit hard headed about when to start the actual transition from summer to fall. Call me weird but I refuse to decorate for fall before the season officially begins on the calendar. I don’t do this for the other seasons except fall. Weird, I know. Other than that I am getting exciting and itching to get my deocrations down from the attic. I love to bring all the fall colors to my home with pumpkin spiced candles and lots and lots of baking. :)

  3. I am SO excited for Fall! (Even though it’s still so hot here in Portland, OR.) I am really wanting to bring a lot of natural elements in this year. Branches, pine cones, etc. That is my goal this season.

  4. I love fall and I love decorating for it. I actually just picked up a amber jug like in the top picture at the thrift store last week. It’s so cool, it’s an old A&W jug. I can’t wait to use that and other fall colors. :-)

  5. I’m ready for fall but the weather isn’t! Still high 80’s to low 90’s this week and next. Makes it hard to feel like fall. Once that chill enters the air then I’ll look into changing things up.

  6. I’m loving these colors…Fall is definitely in the air! I’m planning an Autumn Equinox dinner and have been trying to think of ways I can use what I already have, but make it feel a bit more “Fall-ish”. I think these colors are the trick! I’m going to pull out Fall colored scrap booking paper combined with the color inspiration from this post & do a “mini-makeover” for the party! Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. I would just like to thank you for making me a even BIGGER furniture geek! I will spray anything that is not moving. I also recognized furniture on an online ad from an issue of ‘Style at Home’ magazine. ( I think I need to make friends with her ). Thanks for making 2nd hand finds cool. (AND thanks for the tip about polishing brass- I bought a piece that reminds me of your kelly green desk because I loved the hardware!).
