Me + Joss & Main

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Hey everyone, I’m so excited to announce that I’ve partnered with Joss & Main to curate a collection that will go up for sale next week!  You do all know about Joss & Main, right?  The site that offers daily events where the finest brands and designer goods go on sale at 20-50% off retail, but the deals are only available to members!  I’ve been a member for a year now, and I’ve bought a few things from Joss & Main over these past few months (you’ll get to see my two new club chairs tomorrow!)

A month ago, I was asked to curate a sales event (I know, pinch me) which meant I got to go virtual shopping and hand select 60+ items that reflect my personal style. It was so fun! I gathered up all sorts of stylish finds for you, from gorgeous home accessories under $50 to bigger ticket items like rugs and furnishings. The big sales event is next week ~ here’s a little sneak peek of what you’ll find in my curated sale.

If you’re not signed up yet to get the emails announcing all the sales, here is a personal invitation from me* so you won’t be placed on a wait list.  It costs you nothing, you sign up with your email, and then you’ll have access to various designer decor that goes on sale daily.  *Note, I do receive a small referral fee if you sign up, just like anyone else (including you!) who refers new members.

You definitely don’t want to miss my curated sale next week filled with so many gorgeous things all personally selected by me, you’ll love it!  Look for the sales event next Tuesday, December 13th over at Joss & Main

Organized for the Holidays

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Are you feeling the frenzy that tends to creep up around this time of year?  I think we all start out with the desire to stay on top of it all, but sometimes we get derailed with all of those requests for our attention. One of the quickest ways stress creeps in is the lack of organization that comes from not having an actual plan in place for everything from wrapping the gifts to entertaining a small crowd.

I asked my friend Jen, the the super momma blogger behind I Heart Organizing to offer up some advice for those of us who get that anxious feeling during these busy times ~ Jen has so many great ideas for everyday storage solutions around the home, I thought she’d be the perfect guest to offer some encouraging suggestions for staying organized through the holidays and beyond.

Please welcome Jen and her advice for staying organized during this season!

“Hi everyone! Jen from IHeart Organizing here today to share a couple of my favorite holiday organizing tips and tricks!  Let’s face it, the holidays can be an extremely chaotic and busy time!  From activities to decorating to entertaining, it seems as though there is always something going on. I am a big believer that with a little organization; you can make it through all of the craziness with a smile on your face.

Have your gotten your first holiday card in the mail yet? They are sure to start coming in daily, so now is the time to start thinking up fun ways to keep them on display to enjoy them throughout the entire course of the season.

A few festive ideas are to clip the cards to decorative ribbon, pin them to a pretty memo board, string them from twinkling strands of lights or create a Christmas tree collage right on your favorite focal wall.  When the holidays wind down, whether you choose to hold onto the cards or recycle them is always a personal choice, however, a great way to preserve all of those family photos you received is to create a dedicated holiday album that can be added to year after year.

DIY Wine Bottle Gift Bags

Monday, December 5th, 2011

We had one of the best weekends ever.  Christmas tree?  Check.  Gift list nearly complete?  Check.  Christmas tunes party playlist?  Check.  Trip to the movies?  Check.  We saw the new Muppets movie, so cute!  It brought back memories of watching the show as a child, I confess I was nodding my head back and forth to the Muppets Show theme…”it’s time to put on music, it’s time to light the lights…”

Today is a great day, as we kick off  the Holiday Home Parties, and today Layla is hosting table decor.  I hosted a tablescape contest last week (announcing the winners soon!) so I thought I’d create something for the host or hostess you can make and give that they’d be proud to place on their  table!  The best news is these wine bags can be made with scraps of fabric you have leftover from other projects. They’re easy to make and a great way to personalize a gift of wine or bubbly.

Final BOTB!

Sunday, December 4th, 2011

Greetings everyone, happy Sunday!  I’ve got most of my gift shopping done, thanks to a whirlwind (and kid less!) trip yesterday, feeling great about that. We’re decorating the tree and mantel today, but I wanted to pop in with one more round of the ‘Best of the Blogosphere’ before calling it quits with the series for the year. Here’s a few ideas we spied (Amanda and I) from around the blogosphere over the past couple of weeks.

We’ve seen plenty of pallet decor this year, but we’re absolutely loving this more polished version of a recycled pallet coffee table by Refreshed Decor, Kacey’s handy husband built this one!

Mrs. Devore created a divine sawhorse desk for $10, wow!  Visit Dwellings by Devore to read how she pulled it off.
