Lowe’s Event + GIVEAWAY

May 13, 2011

Hello everyone, I’m just so glad it’s Friday!  Announcing the winner of last week’s Shutterfly Giveaway, here are the four winners:  #6 Barbara Brooks;  #115 Laura Sharbaugh; #395 Rebecca Kavan; and #421 Sarah Davenport.  Congratulations!

This past Monday evening, I was honored to attend a very cool event in New York City sponsored by Lowe’s, showcasing their line of Hi-Def paints in Valspar’s signature colors

The evening’s event began in this very cool downtown modern all white loft space brightened with splashes of Valspar paint samples all over the walls.

loft space

We were invited to mix and mingle with the other 30 bloggers invited, and greeting us were new quarts of fresh paint and paintbrushes for the upcoming challenges.  To me, paint always represents new beginnings and the ability to reveal hidden potential in just about anything.

The always inspirational Nate Berkus was our host, together with Lowe’s.  He spoke about the power of color, and how paint is simply the easiest way for anyone to transform their space into one they will love (so true!).

nate berkus lowes event

Nate spoke about the fact that whenever he seeks color inspiration, he turns to three sources: nature, fashion, and the exotic places he’s traveled.  I love that.  Color inspiration is everywhere, if we open our eyes to witness it, study it, and use that inspiration in our own homes.

Nate took a minute to chat, and snap a pic with me and blog buddy Melissa.

Working with Valspar paints was great fun ~ give me a gallon of colorful paint and I’m a happy girl!  I’m a fan of Valspar having recently used this paint in my little boy’s room, and their Hi-Def is one of the few brands that covers in one coat.

valspar paint

Melissa and I played along in one of the Lowe’s challenges, but we started early.  We were given 30 minutes to use the Valspar paints to turn a piece into something cool, so I opted for a two color chevron pattern.  While the others nibbled on the crudité, we sneaked over to the challenge and started on the first coat of paint!

I painted the top and the door first, waited for it to dry, then taped the top off with painter’s tape and used a tip from this article for painting perfect stripes to get that exact chevron pattern on top by painting over the tape with the first color.  It worked!

creating the cabinet

Due to the time crunch, I didn’t think about painting the hinges, (duh) but both Melissa and Nate agreed the hinges definitely needed to be painted, so to save face, I had to go back and paint them *hanging head in shame*  The little cabinet turned out a little more funky than planned but at least I got that pattern straight!  Nate played judge and we won the ‘Creative Use of Color’ challenge!

As a result, both Melissa and I snagged a $250 Gift Card to Lowe’s, and we’re passing it on to one of YOU!  Yep, I’m giving away my $250 gift card to Lowe’s and let me tell ya, it sure is burning a hole in my handbag.

Eligibility to win the $250 Lowe’s Gift Card:

1) Leave a comment telling me what you’d do with a $250 gift card from Lowe’s.

2) For a second chance to win, link to this giveaway on either Facebook or Twitter, and leave a second comment telling where you linked (FB or Twitter).

One winner, US and Canada only.  Winner chosen by Random.org.  Giveaway ends Monday May 16th at 10 p.m. PST

Want another chance to win?

Hop on over to the The Inspired Room to enter Melissa’s giveaway too!

The event was fantastic opportunity to sample Valspar’s paints in their signature colors, and I’m so very grateful for the invitation! Thanks so much to Lowe’s for sponsoring this very fun gathering and to Nate, for always being such an inspirational designer and speaker!

Good luck to you in the gift card giveaway . . .

Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

Today’s my wedding anniversary so I’m feeling lucky! Anyway, I’d use my Lowe’s gift card on some landscaping materials. It’s that time of year again, and I’m feeling the urge to develop a green thumb.

  2. Chris says:

Check out Nate’s pose with the two of you! Looks like he’s posing for a magazine cover–had to laugh! You girls must have had a blast! How fun!

  3. Jessie says:

We just put a new deck on our house and it could use some sprucing up – furniture, planters, maybe an outdoor rug… I’d put the $250 to good use!

  4. Carole Carnley says:

The military is sending our family to Turkey in August. We can not sell our house because of the market so we are renting it out. We are going to be painting our interior over the next month. I would use this gift card to pay for all of the supplies. I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

  5. Linda says:

If I had a Lowe’s gift card I would re-paint my kitchen (with Valspar paints, of course) and then look for some new lighting to go with the newly painted kitchen. If there was any left over I would buy a few hanging baskets and some herbs………….LOVE your blog!

  6. Carole Carnley says:

I shared this on FB. I hope it is enough to help me win!!

  7. DebbieRN says:

I would use a giftcard to help us re-do a small bathroom – new light fixture, mirror, paint. Beautiful pix of New York!

  8. tracey messina says:

Recently scored some great finds at a garage sale. An awesome bench for my foyer $5, two wood chairs for my dinning room $1 each, and a new sewing table for my craft room for $10! I’m currently working a beautiful old hutch for my craft room, to store my sewing material. So as you can see…I have lots of projects to do and I’d use the $250 to help me sand, prime, paint etc…..

  9. Looks like a fun event-and another chance to see Nate! Congrats on winning the creative portion of the paint challenge

  10. What a fun day, thanks for sharing! If I won, I’d use it to spruce up our outdoor patio, and buy some paint to redo some of the fixtures in our home. We constantly have a buzillion projects going on at any one time, so it’d be gone before I knew it!

  11. pam says:

i would definitely take hubby shopping–what fun!!

  12. casey says:

I love nate!! Sounds like a really neat event! I think your cabinet turned out great;0. I love chevron stripes!

I would totally love a $250 gift card!!! EEK. I am not sure what I would want to use it for first but, I think for bead board to redo our guest bath room and for a chair rail in our dining room!! fUNNNN!!

  13. Linda says:

How fun! With that gift card, I could get started on the office/guest room renovation that is so badly needed. I’m going to need lots of primer and paint!!! (and lots of elbow grease!!!)

  14. Kelly says:

Wow, there is so much I want to do! I would love to use cabinet transformations on my bathroom early 90’s cabinets, get a new fence for my yard, and hardwood flooring, to name a few.

  15. Teresa says:

I would use it to buy tile for our kitchen backsplash!

  16. Sarah says:

I would use the gift card to buy light fixtures and some paint to help redo some outdoor furniture that definitely needs it!

  17. Amy says:

Our glass patio table just broke into very small pieces during a storm last week so I would put it toward new WOODEN patio furniture :)

  18. Kim says:

Ah this would help me out SO much right now! I’m moving to a new apartment in 2 weeks and have all of, oh, $50 in discretionary funds for paint/supplies/decorations. $250 from Lowes would be a godsend!

  19. Melissa M. says:

Just yesterday, I told my husband that we need to spend more time in our backyard this summer (even though we’re in Texas and it will be 1,000 degrees!) :) I would use it to buy paint and cushions (if I don’t make them first) for our hand-me-down patio furniture. Maybe a shepherd’s hook or two as well.

  20. Leigh says:

Well, since I can’t buy Nate Berkus at Lowe’s, I guess I’ll have to “settle” for new faucets for our master bathroom! Ugly brass be-gone!

  21. Jenn says:

How fun! I like the turquoise and yellow mixture you chose. I think I’d divide & conquer with $250 – I have a whole list of little things to do: paint the laundry room, make dropcloth curtains and rods for the kitchen nook, refinish the peeling front door, upgrade landscaping….you know, little things :) Thanks for your generosity!

  22. Hi Kate-

Fun Fun Fun. What a creative way for DIY bloggers to spend an evening with each other. Gotta love Lowes and Valspar – and Nate, too xo

    My best- Diane

  23. Jen N. says:

Right now, since summer is in the air, I’d spend it all on outdoor stuff: new planters and plants, lighting for the deck, and some new patio furniture!

  24. marcella says:

I would use it to paint my downstairs. For the past 4 years I have lived with the awful builders beige(I think that it looks more peach) because I am lazy and because my husband is terrified of color. Last week he finally gave me the go ahead to paint(after tons of complaining from me).

  25. Jen says:

I would use the gift card to buy insulation for our basement. This past year’s chilly New England winter was tough, but we just didn’t have the extra funds to upgrade the old (1930s???) insulation. Keeping my fingers crossed for a warmer winter next year!

  26. Katie R says:

The question is, what would I NOT do with $250? We just bought a new couch and love seat for a previously undecorated area of our house. We need paint, new trim for the front door, lamps, and wall art for that room. Buying the sofas opened up a ton of new projects for us.

  27. Maryjt says:

I am getting the painting bug myself so the gift card would go for some new color for my family room.

  28. Tracy says:

I would buy brick pavers to do a little side patio area we need to finish!

  29. Amanda says:

Oooh…I could definitely use some climbing roses & other plants for my back yard. And…there are definitely some great spray paint colors that aren’t in my garage….could use some of those too…have lots of projects to finish since it’s now spring in NY!!!

  30. Mary Lynn says:

Just bought a new house- paint and light fixtures just to start with.

  31. Angie says:

I would so use this to finish the painting in two rooms (I LOVE LOVE LOVE Valspar paints) and the rest for landscaping materials, trying to start a flower garden and need paving stones!

  32. Robyn says:

We bought a “special needs” home–$250 could get us started on the bathroom…or kitchen…or floors…So many things! Thanks for always having great ideas to keep us blog stalkers inspired!

  33. Mary Lynn says:

shared the link on my facebook page!

  34. Angie says:

https://www.facebook.com/ShortOnCents/posts/165549720172143 link to my Facebook share – shouting out your giveway to over 3,000 : )

  35. Megan says:

I just bought my first house and I want to do a Board and Batten treatment to the dining room, among a long list of other to dos.

  36. Cathy Z says:

    What a fun adventure!!

  37. Erin says:

If i had $250 i would finish painting my house inside (we’ve lived there for 5 years and it’s still not painted), repaint my kitchen, and then paint my bedroom FINALLY! There’s like 6546514687 more things i want and need to do but paint would help out SOOOO much and I puffy heart Valspar!~

  38. Angie says:

I have entered Melissa’s giveaway as well

  39. Sarah says:

My husband and I are redoing our house’s main bathroom – $250 would be a HUGE help for the budget. Plus we LOVE Lowes. And I adore Valspar paints. :)

  40. Jennie says:

I would use the $250 to finish the makeover that we have currently going in our master. We have currently finished out headboard. Next on the list is the painted sheer curtains, painted walls and reupholster chairs, build an accent table and ottoman for the newly reupholster chairs. Many even get started the master bath?

Thanks to you and Lowe’s for the opportunity!

  41. Hilary says:

We really want to build the kids a swingset in the back. This would help accomplish that goal!

  42. Senora H-B says:

I’d make our apartment feel a little less like an apartment. Perhaps with some paint!

  43. Meredith says:

We’re in the process of a kitchen remodel. I’d love to use the gift card to help us buy backsplash tiles that I’m eyeing at Lowes. I love these carrara marble ones: http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=291377-93840-LW599

  44. Becca says:

We are renovating a house in a rough neighborhood to do our ministry – and since we’re on a ministry budget, we dont have a lot of money for any fun extras (or even all the essentials) so i’d love to be able to get some faucets for our clawfoot bathtub or something :-) plus there’s like a million other things we still need so it would be perfect!

  45. Amanda says:

Love all the beautfiul fun colors that Valspar offers! How generous of you to giveaway your gift card! I would use the money to help with our upcoming homeschool room project!

  46. Lois says:

I would be able to do more to make my house a home!

  47. Christina says:

I’d buy paint, for sure! I had no idea what I was doing when we bought the house -way too overeager to put color on the walls. I bought cheap paint in all the wrong colors-it could definitely use some sprucing up!

  48. Sarah says:

Tweeted with Twitter about how much I would LOVE To win! :)

  49. Oooo, fun fun fun! And Nate Berkus eye candy to boot! Ok, here’s what I would do with the Lowe’s gift card: I have 3 pieces of furniture waiting to be painted this summer and my dining room needs fresh paint and new blinds… that should about do it {even though that’s the tip of the iceberg that is my DIY list!}.
Thanks, Kate for sharing your good fortune and fun!!

  50. Mary beth says:

I would use it to start landscaping our backyard!

  51. Franki Parde says:

Valspar rocks….so do you and Melissa for including us in all this “creativity.” franki

  52. lisa says:

i’ve had my eye on a light fixture there for our bedroom, so i’d get that and then some planters with the left over to spruce up my back yard.

  53. Amanda says:

We’re re-doing an 1850s New England farmhouse and have so many projects in process! We’d use this toward a fence for the yard or for new bathroom fixtures.

  54. Danielle says:

I just ADORE Lowes! We’re renters, but FULLY believe in putting money into our rental to make it our home for as long as we stay – but parting with that money knowing that we won’t get full value out of our upgrades is difficult. A gift card to Lowes would be HUGE!!! We’d probably use it to buy paint and personalize our space. OR I’m thinking about building a bed for my little girl – so lumber would be a great option too! THanks so much for giving away your prize – so nice of you!

  55. Diane Kuffler says:

I know exactly what I’d do with the $250 card: give it to my brother and sister-in-law. They have had a really rough year and have been struggling to pay some major healthcare bills while working much less hours due to health reasons. And they are trying to fix up there house a little bit so it’s more enjoyable to be home so much… and the gift card would be perfect to help them out.

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  56. I “rescued” some furniture from the curb, and would use this to give it a makeover, CG style! :)

  57. beckyj says:

What a great giveaway! I’ve got a TON of landscaping to do in our yard, so I’d definitely put that $250 to good use on plants and materials.

  58. Elise says:

Landscaping, for sure. Our yard needs it!

  59. Samantha Pellegrino says:

If I won your card, I’d give it to my daughter for her room that we started but ran out of bucks to finish. We planned a bead board wall but instead ended up with just paint. Which is cool, but painted bead board…sigh! The texture alone is sigh worthy. So, it’s a work in progress as we plan around our funding. We’d up date her door handles and find a fun chair for her desk, the garage sale ones are too low, but way cute….seriously cute actually. Happy Day to you!

  60. heather says:

I have so many small projects to complete around the house that the $250 would greatly help with!

  61. Sonia says:

I would get a new kitchen faucet to replace the old one that came with the house.

  62. Kirstin says:

I would use this card to convince my sis to give me total access to paint/re-decorate a room in her new house! ;)

  63. Wowie!! What a fun event. I would do a few things with a Lowe’s gift card:

    1. First, check the expiration! LOL – we live in a rental condo now, so no big projects we can really undertake. If it is good to go for @ least a year, we would…
    2. SAVE IT! We are hoping to purchase a house in the next year or so. So many DIY projects I am excited about =) Painting, landscaping…or maybe save for Xmas decorations/lights?
    3. If it needed to be used soon…send it to my MIL! She is the DIY and remodeling queen.

    Thanks for the opportunity!!

  64. I need a new door to the garage (the previous owners put in an interior door). This would also make a nice dent in some new flooring…

  65. I need a new door to the garage (the previous owners put in an interior door). This would also make a nice dent in some new flooring…

  66. Gayle Erwin says:

I would either put this toward a new washing machine or some paint, because we’re planning to paint almost every room in our house in the next few months. Thanks!

I would use the $250 Lowes gift card to finish the dining room (a year process) and to do some landscaping as I do not have a single plant/flower.

  69. Cathy says:

I’d use it to paint my eat-in kitchen which is a disaster. 6 months ago I tried a few samples that weren’t right, and life got in the way. Now there’s greens and yellow stripes on the wall and that room needs some color! Thanks for the giveaway!

  70. Kelly B. says:

I’d use it to paint our dining room and add some board and batten. Right now it’s ugly outdated wallpaper and I can’t wait to get rid of it!

  74. Lisa says:

I’d buy some paint to redo an old record player I found.

    Sweet! Thanks for the giveaway!

  75. Danielle Dube says:

With the giftcard, I would buya few sheets of drywall for a newly insulated wall and some primer/paint for my faux wood FORMICA kitchen cabinets! This would help me make my kitchen more liveable before the new arrival!

I would totally create an outdoor living room on our patio! Giraffe rug, hanging potted plants, tropical lovin…

  82. Sassy says:

We’re looking at becoming empty-nesters and to sell this big house, we have to cover up all the creative painting we’ve enjoyed for the last ten years (my sister is a very cool artist who personalized the house for us). She swears she’s never painting on textured walls again so it’s all up to me! The money would go straight to painting, supplies and drop cloths!

  83. Michelle v says:

I would build a masons bees nest and use the rest of that money towards horizontal slatted trellis type of fencing for some climbing clematises!

  84. Rebecca says:

  85. Amy N says:

  94. Sara says:

I’d use it to make some much needed improvements to my kitchen! We’re in the midst of drywall (blech) and still have countertops, a new sink, faucet and backsplash to do. It’s been a long process of updating the small space we have!

  111. kathleen szur says:

Wow $250 would go so far in my house and I agree with Nate a fresh coat of paint changes everything. My oldest has just moved out and quickly before my husband can take over the space as his second office I have to get that room re-done into a nice guest room. Lowes has absolutely everthing i need to complete the job. Thanks for re-gifting!

Hinges. They can be such a pain in the bottom.

Maybe with the Lowe’s card I would buy invisible hinges. :D Actually, no, I’m painting my house from top to bottom and I’m only on my second room. I’d purchase painting accessories and little things for the house, like new switch plates.

Since we’ve moved, I think we’ve spent around $3000 at Lowes (in two weeks)!!! Although it doesn’t seem possible, I still need more. I’ve been using the Valspar High Def paint on my walls, fireplace and front door. Love it! I could really use a new light fixture in my dining room…

  129. Amanda C says:

Posting to Facebook!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

  130. Sarah J. says:

I would love to fix up the yard with some mulch and plants, and get around to painting our dingy office in a bright, fresh color!

  131. Kate says:

I would deal with my falling apart, peeling paint, peeling fake tiled bathroom….

  132. Lori H says:

I would use the gift card to spruce up my husband’s office, and get a new light fixture in my kitchen (we have one of those huge flourescent monstrosities!)

  133. Heidi says:

The hubs and I are closing on our first home in just a few weeks. Needless to say we need just about everything! Paint, tools, cleaning supplies, etc.

  134. This couldn’t come at a more perfect time – I would use it for my guest bathroom makeover!

    Thanks for the opportunity! :)

  135. Jamie says:

I’d use it to replace the sagging, splitting, SAD-looking wooden privacy fence. My yard is chain link on 3 sides, then wood on the side that is next to the road. I want chain link all around…more durable and a more cohesive look. Most important, it’ll be more secure for when my parents bring their dogs!

  136. rebekah says:

Of course I would love to win this! We are renovating an odd attic space to turn our 2 bedroom house into a 3 bedroom which will better fit our family of 5! This would be the perfect way to pay for the rest of that.

  137. twelve30 says:

What a great giveaway! If I was lucky enough to be the winner, I would use the money to spruce up our deck. It need refinishing & I love Lowe’s products! I would also purchase new outdoor furniture to replace my older set. Thanks for the giveaway.

  138. donna bowes says:

Your project turned out great! Thanks for the giveaway and it looks like you had a great time! Need to finish up some yard projects and this would come in handy!

  139. Ericanicole says:

AHHH!! This would be SO AWESOME! I just got married so now that the bank is starting to fill back up with money, we are tackling painting our entire house. It is covered in UGLY builder’s grade tan paint.. all of it.. every SINGLE room. It is quite depressing!

  140. Erin R. says:

I would paint my living room!

  141. Maureen says:

Oh I would so love to put this towards a new toilet for the bathroom.
We are also in need of a refrigerator and some new carpet. This would be a great help in moving towards purchasing these for us.

  142. Jamie Durgey says:

Wow….I’ve just started to become a DIYer! I never knew the fun I could have turning old things into new things! Right now my biggest project is turning my daughter’s nursery into a big girl room. I’m thinking of turning an old door into her headboard and looking for a desk and end tables to redo also. I love the white desk you made I think white is where we are going with that. I would use the money from Lowe’s to buy the paint and knobs and baskets etc. Can’t wait for the weekend to begin to get started!!!

  143. Jessica says:

I’d buy some crown molding for our family room. Then I’d just have to convince my husband to install it!

  144. The chevrons came out so good. I can’t believe you got it done so fast. I would love to win. I am in need of some new outdoor furniture and this would be so helpful! My son’s room needs to be painted too so paint would definitely be on the list!

  145. Nicky Ho says:

I am planning on renovating my downstairs bathroom (the most used room in the house!) and would love to use this on my lowes purchases!

  146. Tara says:

What wouldn’t I do is probably a shorter list. I’d start with some undercabinet lighting, some paint for our guest room, some flowers and shrubs for our completely blank-slate of a yard and about a million other projects!

  147. Patti Hubbard says:

How nice of you! I have lots of ideas…need to repaint the kitchen to match the glass mosaic tiles I fell in love with and have already purchased at Lowe’s. Also I would buy new landscaping perennials and annuals. My yard doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the interior!

  148. Hannah says:

My front entryway desperately needs a cheery new coat of paint, and some new tile for the floor. Thanks Kate!

  149. Katie says:

Hurray for Lowes! We literally just spent a whole bunch of money there last night for our bathroom – and we still need to go back and get the rest of the bathroom set (the medicine cabinet and mirror…). So that’s what it would be going to! That or new lights for the bathroom. Or to fix the bathroom fan. Or for paint for the master bedroom. Or for paint for my kitchen cabinets. Or new hardware for the kitchen cabinets. Yes, my list for Lowes is never-ending.

  150. Elizabeth says:

I would buy paint for my bathroom. It is a 1940’s black and white tile gig. and I really want to use pantone color of the year :)

then I’d use the other money for hardware for a $20 chest of drawers i got at a yard sale that houses my tv! and then i’d buy some spray paint because I am not thrilled with the color i painted it and redo it :)

then i’d buy some other spray paint in say emerald green? and then buy laquer and paint 2 chest of drawers from ikea the infamous rast drawers!!

and i would also buy hardware to hang drapers and buy some of the waverly chippendale fabric drapes they have at lowes now to make a faux roman shade!!

  151. Laura says:

Lowes trim department, here I come! I have wanted to add some board and batten walls, frame out our cookie cutter boring bathroom mirrors and add crown moldings to make our tract home a stand out! Keeping my fingers crossed!

  152. Anna says:

I would put it toward my bathroom re-do!

  153. Angela says:

I would finish my dining room! I’ve been working on it for a year. Next up: wainscotting, which I thought I’d get done this weekend until I found out we had a softball tournament, a birthday party and a request to serve at church. Oh well…one day….;)

  154. Kris Lewis says:

$250!!! I could change the world—or at least my flowerbeds!

  155. Danielle Dube says:

I also linked this on twitter!

  156. LOVE! I would use $250 to help get my master bathroom in some semblance of style…. As in something other than the lighthouse border that has adorned it for FAR TOO LONG.

  157. Ericanicole says:

    Tweeted the giveaway! @ericanicole234

  158. Christine says:

We’re buying our first house, so I’d buy paint, paint, PAINT! and maybe a great rug :)

  159. Jessica says:

We have been redoing our bathroom for… close to a year! Okay, really, it sat with the wallpaper partially stripped for about 8 months. I would love to get the project knocked out with more flexibility in our choices!

  160. Meghan B. says:

Oh man…as much as I would love to use it inside, I think I would have to put it towards our fence plans. Boring but necessary. :)

  161. Christine says:

I have a long shopping list for Lowe’s right now. I want to make the “rain gutter book shelves” for my daughter’s room and I’m copying your upholstered tufted headboard for my guest room.

  162. Gina W says:

I’m in the midst of rethinking my entire paint scheme in the house so this would let me go crazy with the paint on the walls and furniture!

  163. Susan says:

oohhhhh! We are moving in a few months so I would buy paint, paint, and more paint!

  164. Janet says:

I would buy either a new kitchen faucet or some new shrubs and perinnials to update the front of my home.

  165. Kelly says:

I seriously love Valspar paint, I do not paint with anything else. A few times I have bought Behr because Home Depot is closer, I always regret it and end up driving to Lowes to get a new can. I am currently doing a big renovation on my house and to save money my husband and I decided we would paint ourselves, so I would use the $250 gift card to buy a boatload of Valspar paint (we have added about 1,000 sq feet to our house and it all needs to be painted- ceiling, trim, etc.). Whether or not I win we will still be buying Valspar paint, I can not recommend it enough.

  166. Elizabeth Church says:

Paint, paint, and more paint! Trim, trim, and more trim!!

  167. Katherine says:

I too would buy paint!! I am closing on my first house in 18 days (but who’s counting?). After years of renting, I can’t wait to have my walls whatever color I want!

  168. sangeetha says:

Nice – with all my home improvements currently it would take me just one morning to spend 250$ at Lowes :)

  169. Mandy says:

I have so many things to spend soooo much more than $250 on but that would be such a huge start and blessing! Thanks for giving away your own gift card – how nice! :)

  170. Emily M says:

I would buy all the paint we need to cover the hideous walls the previous owners left us with in our new house! :P

  171. Sam says:

The thought of a $250 Lowe’s gift card made me swoon a little!

We’re turning our game room into my office/studio so this would be AWESOME! I have a huge countertop from the Habitat for Humanity Restore in the garage that needs a base, and I could build a great one with $250!

  172. Tara says:

When we moved into our new house, the ceilings in all the rooms were painted the same color as the walls. We have one room left…the purple room. And its not a nice purple, either.

  173. baltimoremom says:

I know exactly what to do with the $250 Lowe’s card if I win (I hope I do!). Nothing glamorous but something necessary: a dehumidifier! Our dehumidifier just busted and with the humid summer about to start, we definitely need a new one in our basement.

  174. Kat says:

So many things are on our to-do list that this could be used for. Probably top priority is that it’d go towards a new metal roof for the addition on our house.

  175. Tara says:

I would use this toward a new vanity in my bathroom!

  176. maggie says:

Wow! You did a great job on those stripes! I have two rooms here calling out for fresh paint jobs.
    I hope I win! Thanks!

  177. Karen Jerread says:

I would buy lots of paint from my local Lowes! I want to repaint the enire interior of my house and it really needs it. Really loved your color combo on the table but I agree, the hinges and knob really needed painting.

  178. Missy C. says:

We are in the process of purchasing a home and I could a Lowes gift card for many things! First on the list would be paint, followed by some storage items, and decorative hardware for cabinets. Seriously though, the list is a mile long! LOL

  179. Shannon P says:

I have a lot of home improvment projects I’d like to work on (many inspired by you) and $150 would certainly help me out in getting them done! I’d start with repainting our master bath and refinishing the cabinets in there…

  180. Emily M says:

I linked this giveaway on FB :)

  181. Esther says:

I would love to win – I love Valspar paints and have used them throughout my home. Our next project is to paint the kitchen floor and that’s where I’d start with the $250.00!! Then on to the stairs, a table I have, etc . . . .

  182. StaceyBull says:

Ha!! Pick anything off the list!……window boxes and flowers for the front of the house, new paint for all my exterior doors (they’re currently a horrid shade of green from the previous owner), Homemade tufted headboard for the guest room (thanks for the inspiration!), build a mantel around the fireplace, we currently have only a shower pan in the master bath (and no walls)…….and I have about a hundred more things after that!!

  183. Nicole C. says:

Woo Hoo! What couldn’t I do with $250 to Lowes??
Let’s see – I’m thinking paint for the three bedrooms that all need it! And some shrubs for the front of my house – need to amp up that curb appeal! If there’s any left, I could use some colorful annuals, too (I could probably spend 3xs that amount on plants alone ; )

  184. Amy Wolff says:

We have a lot of home improvement projects we are working on at the time: extending the patio, using Valspar paint to paint our enclosed patio ceiling, and painting an old bench we found at an antique store. Now if we could just buy time to get our to-do list done.

  185. Tejal says:

We are renovating our apartment, re-doing the kitchen and bathroom, so I would definately use the gift card towards that :)

  186. Sarah B. says:

Ooh, I would love to use the gift card on some paint, a new light fixture for my living room, and some gardening supplies!

  187. Saby says:

Oh I can think of about a million and one ideas to use that gift card on! I would start by looking in their lighting department for some barn/industrial looking lighting for my master bedroom makeover, which is currently in full swing. Then I would head on over to the trim department and look and see if they have any beadboard for our master bathroom, which is next on the list. If there was anything left over I would just have to browse the paint department (I can sit there and stare at paint colors for hours!) and see if I could find that rustoleum cabinet makeover kits for the bathroom as well. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  188. Sarah B. says:

I linked to this on twitter!

  189. Shaina says:

I am in the midst of a huge master bathroom, closet and bathroom renovation. This would be great to get an awesome closet organization system!

  190. Wendy K says:

I would finally put a tile backsplash up in my kitchen!

  191. Soledad Ravendo says:

I’d use it to redo our front yard…!!!

  192. Emily says:

I would use it to paint our kitchen! I’m dying to change up the “blah” color in there, just haven’t had the resources…

  193. Becky says:

I’m in a rental, but I could still do plenty with a Lowe’s gift card. There is some furniture I’d like to paint and I’d love to get a bench and something movable to put some plants and flowers on my front porch.

  194. sandy says:

WOW meeting Nate, I watch it everyday. Well could I use that $250 card … you bet. I’m getting ready to redo my kitchen/dining room. So I need paint, new sink, backsplash and more. So please throw me into the pot. Thanks for sharing.

  195. Alice Adams says:

I love to go to Lowes and check out all the new Valspar paint colors. I am getting ready to strip all the wallpaper from my long hallway and I could really use that Lowes gift card. Gonna repaint it as soon as all the wallpaper is gone!! Just finished my kitchen and den. Goodbye wallpaper and hello paint!

  196. Nicolette says:

Paint! We’re renters, but we have one HIDEOUS peach and purple bathroom (yikes!) which I’m trying to get our landlord to agree to let us paint and do a mini reno on.

Some high-quality products like a Valspar paint in a luxuriously muted tone might be just the thing to sway him. If I win, expect my before and after photos!

I can see why you didn’t paint the hinges – they needed something… else? Painting them the colors they are up against is a good way to camouflage them, but I could see something darker, or a metallic silver finish bringing more pizzazz to your funky piece.

  197. Kim from NC says:

    The cabinet is adorable!

Now that winter has finally left NC, I would get moving on a few painting projects that are on my to-do list: A beautiful desk that my husband made out of a 90-year old farm-house door, an old mahogany dresser that I saved from a thrift store, a 2-foot tall lamp from the 60’s that is kitschy and fabulous….the list goes on!

  198. Joy says:

Wow ! a $250 Lowe’s card would be great! If I would win the gift card I’d buy some Valspar paint to redo my laundry room. Thanks for the chance to win!!!

  202. Laura Register says:

We are wanting to remodel the ENTIRE HOUSE… think paint, new kitchen, rugs, appliances, lighting, windows, etc, etc, etc!

  203. Ally says:

Paint and lots of it. Paint for the living room, kitchen, my office, and bathroom. I want to add color to my house. I’ve written a prescription for my house: ADD COLOR!!

  204. Meredith says:

Hmmm what’s next on our Lowes list? $250 is a good chunk of change so we might just have to put it towards new floors! Thanks so much for the giveaway!

  205. Karen W says:

Buy some of their wonderful paint to start. Due to the economy, we had to sell our large family home and bought a small and very dated home. Our goal is to show our kids what you can do with lots of TLC and diy projects!!! I would begin at the front door and start painting…………Reading your fabulous blog inspires me to go forth and make beautiful, one project at a time!

  206. Renee says:

I would use the $250 for paint for my kitchen and dining room and if possible the living room. It sooo needs it!

  207. Andrea says:

Thanks for the chance to win this gift card…I would paint my family room, which is currently a very sad beige colour, and needs a facelift immediately. I would also tackle painting the kitchen cabinet doors. I have wanted to do this for a long time, as my kitchen is all medium oak and really should be cream/white!

  208. With a $250 Lowe’s gift card, I’d probably go in the store and never come out :) Seriously, I have been waiting for the budget to allow me to complete the mirror re-do in my bathroom – the gift card would allow me to complete that project. And I love your funky cabinet!!!

    Mary @ Redo 101

  217. Caroline says:

I’ve tweeted to all my peeps!

I’d put it towards all of my refinishing projects! I’m working on converting an antique door into my headboard and redoing my childhood dresser and a nightstand I bought for $10 dollars with a seriously rough paint job.

  219. Claudia says:

We need to redo our bathroom so that’s where the card would go!!!

  220. That gift card would go a LONG way in my master bath redo. I’ve already spent $50 on supplies and I haven’t even finished fixing the drywall yet!

  221. Michelle says:

OOOOOOHHH!!!! Tile for my kitchen backsplash and under cabinet lighting!! What a cool giveaway – thanks!

  222. With $250, I could turn my mud room from disastrous to beautiful and functional! It has been driving me crazy! I want to do board and batten walls with hooks, and three built-in open lockers with cubbies below and shelves above. And since it’s a tiny mud room, I may even have some left over for painting the half-bathroom!

  234. dinny says:

I’ve been needing a new stove for about 5 years. A Lowes gift card would be a HUGE help :)

  235. Lara says:

We just bought a home in Austin, TX and there are plenty of projects we could use $250 for. I need a couple oil rubbed bronze faucets for the master bathroom. We need some blinds or shades for the master and guest bedrooms. I know that would eat it up pretty quick!

  246. Lee Ann L. says:

We’re looking for a house. So, I’d most likely save it until we get the house and then, we’d get paint and DIY stuff to do minor repairs with. I have always liked crown molding and if the house does not have any, I’d buy some of those too. It all depends. I am so looking forward to getting our dream home. :-)

  247. Brooke says:

Fun! I actually rather like the hinges unpainted. It looks quirkier that way (in a good way!).

With $250 at Lowe’s, I’d paint our dining room and office and finish sprucing up our patio!

    Thank you for doing this!!!

    I would definitely get crown to put in throughout my house. Hope I get real lucky! :}

  253. Nodakademic says:

I think the question is, what *couldn’t* I do with a Lowes giftcard? I have two big summer project planned: a patio project with pavers and a kitchen makeover. This gift card would help immensely with either of those things.

  254. Randi says:

We’re in the middle of some major home improvement jobs … I’d use it to buy paint or the new backsplash for my kitchen!

  255. Nodakademic says:

It’ll be a long four years, but I’m looking forward to a space all my own to study in :) Thank you for the giveaway, you’re very sweet!!

  266. Concetta says:

What wouldn’t I do with a $250 gift card is more the question!?! We have a new house (old but new to us) and we’re currently renovating the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and laundry room. Yikes! We’d put that baby to good use by helping us buy a new stackable washer and dryer. Swoon.

  267. Kim L. says:

Looks like a fabulous event! That’s really generous of you guys to give away your gift cards. If I were to win, I would definitely put it towards sprucing up my daughters bathroom. 268. Stacie M. says:

I would save the $250 gift card until we buy our house next year. My two young girls are just itching to be able to paint their own rooms since we have been renting the past 3 years.

  269. Susan L. says:

Oh, I could really use this! I’d use it all on landscaping. Our yard is an eyesore!

    I would definitely put in crown throughout my house. Hope I get real lucky :}

Paint, lamps, decor! I am currently decorating my home and reusing pieces by painting them. I’d have a lot of fun!

  272. Amanda says:

I have so many projects on my list. I’d have to use it for my bedroom redo :). Thanks for the chance to win!

  273. Kari says:

That giftcard would go a long way in helping me landscape my new back yard! I went last week to buy flowers and spent well over $200 already! I’d love some more color and planters in my yard! :)

  282. Kristin says:

Oh Kate, I could spend that $250 about 8 times without pausing for breath! But the first time, I’d use it toward a privacy fence across the back (my neighbors have them on each side), so I can let my new dog play out there without adult supervision. :)

  285. I would use it towards the DIY patio we’re planning on making.

  286. Danielle says:

Oh what I would do for this gift card! With 2 little boys on the move, it seems everyday we find something else that they’ve broken. Just last night one of them broke a door handle. So that would be first on my list, followed closely by new paint for my kitchen cabinets and a new front door – well at least it would take a small chunk out of that expense!

  287. Patti Jones says:

I would so redo my foyer and up my stairs. The previous owner of my house painted it an awful, very “80s” mauve color…but she didn’t stop there! Oh no…she took a spounge and painted plops of marroon and a light mauve color all over it. Not only is in completely dated, not classic and just down right ugly…it also makes my foyer very dark and dull. So I would certainly get that fixed up. I have lived with it for 6 years now *hanging head in shame* but time and money constraints have made sure the 80’s stay alive for a while longer in my house!

  288. Meg says:

Oh! With $250 I could possibly get an air conditioner before we return to the 100 degree temps we rocked ’round these parts last summer!

If I won your giveaway I would use the money to replace the moulding in my home and add some board and battan (using your tutorial of course). I know it would make such a huge difference! Thanks for the giveaway, enjoy your weekend!

  291. Amy Bell says:

I would use my $250 to green up my home!

  292. Andrea says:

Hmm, I have soooo many unfinished projects in my house. The majority of them stalled after the adoption of our last child. Okay, I would finish the upstairs bath that was started 6 years ago then I would move on the the foyer which needs to be gutted and finished with new insulation and drywall and the back entry which also needs to be gutted, insulation and finished with a pantry. Okay now my head hurts :)

  293. Melody says:

Oh, the places this could be used in our house! Plantation shutters, new ceiling fans, new kitchen faucet, base cabinets to build island for the kitchen, shade plants for the backyard, new hardware for kitchen cabinets, new kitchen appliances — the list is endless! Oh and our lawnmower decided to break a few days ago and if hubby can’t fix it guess we’d have to use the gift card for that!

  294. abby winters-bona says:

I would definitely buy some paint and supplies to update my sons’ room! They are outgrowing the young nursery theme and are in need of a big boy redo.

  295. Sunny says:

The giftcard would go toward my bathroom remodel, a window unit air conditioner for upstairs, or an outdoor swing.

  303. Janet says:

I want a new front door! Spring storms have already hit hard here in the Midwest and we are having to get a new roof and siding already. My old front door is sad and tired, not to mention everyone can see in through a large glass panel! I want to replace it with something solid and sturdy, unmarked by the elements and pretty!

  304. Chandy says:

    i love nate berkus!!!

  309. Francis C. Moore says:

  310. Kathy M says:

Happy Friday! What a cool little dresser. I can always find stuff at Lowe’s! With $250, I might be able to round up some of the final touches for our outdoor patio re-do. Some plants, planters, outdoor lighting, outdoor rugs, or maybe a new swing set for the kids. Thanks for the giveaway!

  311. Ashley says:

I want to redo our back porch and would love new patio furniture!

  312. KatMoss says:

If I won the gift card – we’d likely put it towards a new front or back door. We have old wooden, so-not-energy-efficient doors that desperately need replacing! Or I might buy gallons of beautiful gray paint and re-paint my entire downstairs!

I would love to use the giftcard to put toward redecorating our living room!

  362. Dee in BC says:

We care currently in the process of selling our house. The house we had planned to buy was sold to another purchaser. This leads up to my answer of “Im not sure what I’d do with a Lowes gift card.” most of the new & relatively new homes we like don’t seem to have tile backsplashes. So that would be my 1st choice- If we end up buying a previously owned home, I’d likely use it to buy paint. We ‘ve seen a number of nice houses with awful ( in my humble opinion) paint choices. So far I have seen 3 homes with “flower gardens ” either steciled or painted free hand on lilac walls in 1 of the kid’s rooms. I guess this could be cute if I had a little girl, but I have sons . Sons-Who keep sayng ” No, Let’s not buy that house. It has icky girly flowers on the wall!” I keep saying it’d only take some paint & yes, selling the current home….

  363. Angie says:

My husband and I are always at Lowe’s – we are major DIYers. We’d probably finished up some landscaping projects if we won.

  364. Denae Coates says:

I would LOVE this gift card. We would build a new fence! Ours is falling down. We thought the wind would blow it over but no such luck :)

  365. Finish my garage, no build a fence in the backyard, no refinish the pew bench I just snagged, no…I could seriously do this all day!

  366. Sarah W. says:

I would buy paint and a fan for our nursery! I am due June 23rd and haven’t really started our nursery yet! With two other young kids, it is hard to find the time!

  367. Tanda says:

It is definitely time for new, fresh color in my house!!!

  368. Leah says:

Honestly? I’d give it back to you and put it toward the Alma house. I certainly do have things that need doing around the house. But even more awesome is the work you’re doing! We have been a bit strapped for cash (I went back to school), but that’s temporary. It just means that I haven’t been able to donate to your project. i think $250 would go pretty darn far with Alma house to do more awesome goodness there.

  369. Laurie says:

I would use it to finish up the front lawn landscaping project and the rest to buy paint for the next project…Living Room remodel!!! Thanks for the chance!

  373. Shannon says:

If I had $250 to lowes I would buy paint to repaint the main floor of our home, maybe add some shelving to a few spaces, a new door to the garage — a screen one so I can leave it open and see the kids, but keep the bugs out! I have a million things I could use it on.

  374. Jaime says:

We’d paint! We bought an amazing new house… but it definitely needs a few coats of new paint in just about every room. I’m not exactly sure what the previous owner was thinking! We’re also planning some DIY work in the kitchen and laundry room!

  375. Kristen says:

Oh man $250! I would totally be buying the supplies to make my daughter a little kitchen for Christmas as well as paint to paint rugs/ furniture and I’m sure my husband would find a way to snag a tool as well.

  382. RosieK says:

The $250 would either be added to my flooring fund or, more likely, immediate gratification-wise, put toward paint projects–accent wall, dresser re-hab and unwise-color choice do-over.

  383. Gigi says:

Oh my goodness, I’d just love to repaint my living and dining rooms. I just got some new furniture and the walls are in desperate of a freshening up! I used Valspar Hi-Def for the first time recently and love it.

  384. Oh, yeah!! I just stocked up on painting supplies but I REALLY want some plants for the garden! Unfortunately they are not a NEED so they aren’t in the budget but with an extra $250 I could go nuts! :)

  385. shari says:

kate, I look forward to checking out what you are up to several mornings each week. I have been inspired by your creativity and energy. We are in the process of finishing up my own little craft area in our basement. I would love to use Lowes “cash” to refinish our repurposed kitchen cabinets with the kit you showed us a few weeks ago.

  386. Katrina says:

I would paint and get some closet organization systems – the closets are in dire need of some rethinking! Thank you for sharing your winnings!

  387. Tammi says:

I would love to win! I have a front flower bed that I just can’t afford to “finish” the way I want to. I also have 3 pieces of furniture to re-finish, and my patio furniture desperately needs a refresh! With too many things going on, I just don’t have to $$$ to get it all done now when I could enjoy it for the summer!

  388. Pam says:

I would update my patio! Currently we have a rickety table and four plastic chairs and a plastic “armoire” for storage. It needs to be lovely-fied so my husband can relax and sit comfortably as he has serious health issues – cancer that won’t go away. When the kids visit we all enjoy eating alfresco together.

Oh wow…we are doing so many house renovations right now! It would probably go towards our new wood kitchen and dining room floor. :) Thanks for the giveaway!

  390. Leanne says:

I’m painting my living room with this paint right now and it’s incredible. THe wall was red and I’m painting it gray. I feel so “in” right now. Since my boy’s room and my room needs to be painted next, so I would buy the paint for there. I also have a table that needs painted. THanks for the chance to win. 398. Posted on my FB! :) Now keeping my fingers crossed and rocking back and forth whispering “let it be me, let it be me…” :)

  399. Jessica B says:

I would be so grateful to win the Lowe’s giftcard! Our bathroom has this really outdated wallpaper in it, and we have tried EVERYTHING and it won’t come off! In the places it has come off, it has damaged the drywall. So right now it is too big of a project for us to finish, but the Lowe’s giftcard would get us back at it!

  400. staci zohlen says:

Sooooo many options, but after a year in our house, we are finally putting our master bathroom and closet together. (they were just dry walled, empty rooms before). There are so many things we need!!

Hel-loooo! What couldn’t I do with $250?! My girl is getting married in July and we are working on getting her fiance’s home new-bride ready. Painting and accessorizing are tops on the priority list. The gift card would make this a fairly stress-free endeavor! Thank you.

I’d like to update my mother’s apartment bedroom! She is in dire need of shelving and storage and a plant. Definately a plant.

You are too cute! Thanks for sharing your prize!

Flowers & paint to spruce up the outside of my house!

  408. Emily V. says:

I love Lowes!!! If I won I would finally purchase the Allen + Roth Quatrefoil mirror that I’ve been wanting FOREVER! The rest would go towards a grill for this summer. That would be awesome!

  409. Nicole says:

Love the cabinet! I would use the giftcard to purchase a grille for my husband for Father’s Day-we really need a new one. Or maybe a new fancy faucet for the kitchen, or a new chandy for the dining room . . . obviously too much stuff I want at Lowes.

  410. Debbie says:

  415. Steph says:

Ooh that teal color you used in the chevron pattern would look great as the first coat on a dresser that I want to give a weathered, antique look to! So happy Canadians are included in this conteset :)

  422. Ashley says:

I would buy paint with the money! I just bought my first place (a brand new 2 floor condo) last October, and am getting so sick of the beige they painted the entire place! But as a 24 year old with a mortgage and all the bills that come with it, I haven’t been able to afford to paint the place yet. Hopefully soon!

  423. Lynda says:

I would love to pick up some new knobs for cupboards and wood material for a raised garden. Thank you for this wonderful post and giveaway.

  424. Amber says:

I would paint the master bedroom and bathroom, and if there was anything left, put it toward a new bathroom vanity!

  425. Jan D-M says:

Just posted a link on Facebook!

  426. Paulina J! says:

We will be moving in a couple of months and will definitely need some paint since I’m leaning to buying an older home. All these design blogs have me hooked and inspired :)

  427. Lynda says:

    I shared this on Twitter.

  428. Rebecca W says:

I would spend the giftcard from Lowes buying vegetables and seeds and other gardening implements to grow food for my family to can. We are very big on local food.

  429. Missy says:

I want to win that gift card sooooo bad!! Good job with your creative colors!

  430. Holly says:

I’d use it to buy lots of paint. We’re still living with the white walls we moved into (eeek! 4 years later!) so we would love to add lots of color.

  431. Jill says:

How do I narrow it down? I have so many things on my “to-do” list! I would love to put that giftcard towards a kitchen cabinet makeover. I would love to paint my cabinets white, and brighten up my kitchen!

  432. vampfan30 says:

what would I do with $250 at Lowe’s? replace all the broken/missing tile in my kitchen & living room with maybe some linoleum & replace my nasty worn out kitchen sink & faucet. If anything is left over, I could use a little more insulation in the attic…

  433. Mic S says:

Oh how fun for you to go to do this!! Hmm.. Painting my bedroom and the living room for sure and if there was any left over maybe some new plants for the yard.

  434. Ellen says:

Oh gosh, what *couldn’t* I do with $250 from Lowe’s?!? We could start on our flagstone pathway in our front yard, or finish up our stair renovation project? Or detexturize my stepson’s walls in his room and paint them the color he wants? So much!

  435. Nicole says:

What wouldn’t I do with a Lowe’s gift card! Right now, we are gearing up to re-do one of our flower beds and plant the garden. We would also love to tackle a deck expansion and kitchen cabinet redo this summer!

  436. Sunny Ketchum says:

    I linked this to facebook

  437. Nell says:

Wow. What I could do with $250 at Lowe’s!! I have been gearing up to redo our living room and that would help out tremendously!!

  438. Jenny says:

I recently found bullet edgers at Lowes that are an exact match to the ones in my yard. The big-box store that I had bought them at originally changed the manufacturer, so the sizes changed too. boo. I was so excited to find them at Lowes! I would use the gift card to buy those!

Thanks very much for the opportunity!

  439. abigail says:

i just bought valspar paint to paint my front door and so far am loving how it goes on. I would love to use the gift card to fix my master bathroom – we’ve had plywood covering a torn out wall due to a leak for over a year. I’d love to get that finished.

  440. chelsea says:

oh my! we just moved, so we sort of live at Lowes. I think I would use this to buy paint for our living room!

  441. Rachel says:

$$ to Lowes? Well I am getting married in 70 days and my fiance and I are still house hunting and getting very stressed regarding this whole “we have no place to live yet.” But I am optimistic and I would use $250 to Lowe’s to update the lovely new home which I am sure we will have very shortly hopefully!

  442. deb mills says:

i don’t have to hesitate on this one. i’d spend it on wood for the dream pergola i want built on our patio!

  443. Jackie says:

I’m in desperate need to repaint my dark green walls. I’d use the money to go lighter and brigher, and get a new rug for the living room!! I hope I win!

  444. Kelly says:

What would we do with the $250 gift card to Lowes? Put it towards gorgeous tile for our bathroom gut/reno on our new-to-us house we cloosed on yesterday. Or maybe paint for my sons room. Or a grill for my amazing husband for fathers day. The list could go on and on. :)

  445. kayduh says:

We are getting my fiance’s house ready to sell and this card would be so helpful! We need paint, new hardware, some art and mirrors, the list is pretty long!

  446. Lynette says:

Oh my gosh, what wouldn’t I spend this on?!?! I would paint and decorate my daughter’s room, get a new vanity for my master bathroom and get silver nickel doorknobs and hinges for all my doors. Oh I hope I win!

  447. Cheryl says:

So many places, so many choices! I love repainting and retooling what we have — for starters, I need to paint the outdoors wrought iron patio set. Moving on to a mirror frame, picture frames, the inside of our kitchen cabinet and the bonus room!

  448. Cindy says:

We need to paint our living room area.

  449. Jackie says:

    Tweeted this! =)

  450. Jan says:

The possibilities are endless, the first things I would buy would be new paint and MDF to add board and batten to my master bedroom!

  451. Love the new Valspar paint colors! I would use the $250 toward a redo of my guest bathroom. It’s stuck in the eighties! To see a picture head over my blog and check out the Projects! post. You will be horrified!

  452. Jessica says:

I would buy paint (of course!) My hubby and I just bought our first home and its full of drab beige walls desperately in need of some color love.
I’m sure a chunk would go to gardening supplies as well!

  453. Danielle says:

We’re at Lowe’s every weekend for one thing or another, so I’m sure we’d use the $250 quickly to go towards a variety of home improvement projects.

  454. Rachel says:

We’re starting a complete remodel project in our basement and a gift card to Lowes would be so helpful with our tight budget!

  455. Tiffany says:

I can think of about 700 billion things I could do with it. With an older home that we have been continually redoing, there is always a project list :)

  456. Haley W says:

I would buy paint and a palm sander!

  457. Corrie says:

For the past eight years I have moved once, sometimes twice a year. Pain in the butt but I got used to the consistency of the change. The apt. I am in now, I expect to be in for a while now. I am very happy I don’t have to move yet again, but I am missing the bit of change. I would use the paint to finally make a the house I am living in feel more like a home, and get my fix for change.
PS: Your site has been an inspiration in so many projects and in getting me back doing what I love. I pass it on to everyone. Thank you!

  458. Ooooo..what wouldn’t I use this for at Lowes! I would love to repaint our dining room and hallway and add some new curtains and a mirror. I love that I could get all those items at Lowes. Love their stuff.

  459. Rebecca W. says:

    Wow, that’s a huge giveaway!
If I won, I would probably repaint my master suite, both secondary bathrooms, kitchen and dining room. Then, if I had any leftover money, maybe tackle the kitchen cabinets?! Sooo many possibilities!

  460. Dollie says:

I could totally use that gift card! We’re currently in the process of buying a house and moving, so 250 dollars to Lowe’s would be awesome for some patio furniture or stuff for the craft room. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!

  461. Brittany says:

I would use it on a new bathroom vanity I’ve been eye balling, and every bathroom re-do requires paint!

  462. Kara says:

I would probably splurge on new outdoor furniture. I don’t need it, but it would sure be fun!

  463. Devan P. says:

My wife showed me your site to show me some projects she wants me to do. The gift card would be awesome.

  466. Sherise says:

Ooh, that would be a dream! I would stock up on primer, paints and finishes for all the projects I hope to refinish (clear) out of my garage and into my home. :) And accent with beautiful plants to add to a couple more planters in my front yard. (I LOVE all the gorgeous color) Oh, and of course, I’ll need a few extra sand paper sheets for my sander because I will burn through at least 2 of them to complete all the projects I do have. :) Thanks, Kate!

  467. Jessica says:

I would give it to my daughter and her new husband. They purchased their first home and it is a fixer upper. They are saving for new carpet in the bedrooms, tile in the kitchen and bath and wood for their living areas. Lots of work for someone starting out. But I think its lots of fun!

  468. Annie says:

    Get rid of the linoleum!

  469. Jennifer says:

We love Lowe’s! I want to add a board & batten treatment up my stairwell, so I’d use the gift card to get started with this project. Thanks!

  470. Joy says:

I just purchased my first home :) I have 5 kids and I have been redoing bedrooms, boys room is next and its a pretty small space, I need storage solutions and paint, this would be perfect!

  471. Aimee says:

100% would go to my master bath! It’s been on the backburner for 10 years as we’ve renovated everything else. I need tile, lighting, a new faucet, a frame around the giant mirror, and paint and lattice to fix up my chipped MDF cabinetry. I’m ready for it to be redone!

  472. Heather says:

I need need need a new dining room chandelier! Bad 1980s!

  473. Gina says:

thanks for such a sweet giveaway! I would put the money towards tile floors for the bathrooms and say goodbye to that hideous vinyl foreva!!

  474. Heather H says:

We’re working on our fixer-upper and this would be fantastic!

  475. Bri says:

Goodness he’s adorable. Ok, now that i have that out of the way, I would put that gift card to work transforming my guest bedroom. I’ve been in the house 8 years and I haven’t painted it yet. So sad. I need to make it a multifunction space, guest room, the pup’s bedroom and a sewing space for me. I have a campaign dresser I picked up cheap at an estate sale, now I just have to figure out the rest of the stuff. A lot of paint will be needed so I could definitely find ways to spend $250 at Lowes. Thanks so much and welcome home!

  476. Guerrina says:

My whole 1st floor is “builder beige” and needs COLOR! The guest 1/2 bath also needs a total new look (beadbord or board & batten & new paint, build new vanity, tile floor). Kitchen cabinets need to change to white from standard builder grade oak. $250 would go a long way to making any of these happen!

  477. Samantha says:

Oh where to start? I’d use it to buy pavers to finally finish our patio or maybe some tile for the bathroom.

  478. Jenny says:

Just posted a note on my FB page too…

  479. Samantha says:

  480. Deb C says:

I would use it to finish off my recent kitchen remodel. I still need to add a new lighting fixture above the table.

  481. Cyndia Montgomery says:

Wow! When doing updates on my own home I’m always torn between “practical” and “pretty! With $250 to spend I could do both! I’d buy a new toilet to replace my water hog from 1968!! And have enough left over to paint my bedroom and hallway. I love almost every green out there but want to soften the greens I have.
How cool to spend time with the nicest guy in America!

  482. Jo Mathis says:

Goodness! My husband and I are remodeling several areas of our house now and we shop at Lowes several times a week because of it. We could definitely use the $250 gift card. We would probably spend it on paint and various building materials. We are converting a walk in attic into an extra bedroom and remodeling the kitchen, so we certainly have lots of supplies to get :)

  483. Michele Owens says:

No doubt! I would paint my family room & kitchen since they join together as one room. And if I have anything left over I’d get started on my outdoor patio projects.

  484. Chelsea says:

I am planning to repaint my living room/dining room/entry/hallway which is one continuous space and will take a lot of paint, so a $250 gift card would go a long way. The trim and ceiling could also badly use a fresh coat of paint, the current paint job is at least 8 years old but the trim and ceiling haven’t been painted in over 10 years! Ugh.

  485. Jennifer Nation says:

Thank you for the lovely giveaway!
Oh what wouldn’t I do?!? First I would buy an adorable fan for our little girl’s nursery. Then I would use the rest to help defer the enormous costs of completely remodeling our backyard so that it loses it’s swamp beast look. This would help so much, we have had to put the project almost completely on hold for financial reasons!

  486. Elaine says:

I’m in the middle of repainting my entire house and sprucing it up before my sister and her family comes to visit in June. I haven’t seen them in over four years so I want my house to look perfect! =)

  487. Kiende says:

    What a wonderful offer!
We are in the process of adding hardwood flooring to our dining room. The gift card would be great for this project.
    Thanks Kate, Thanks Lowes!

  488. Jo Mathis says:

    I linked on facebook!

  489. emily says:

IF I were to win the $250 – I would be able to finish making the bed of my dreams! I’ve already managed a headboard from old closet doors – I just need some “$$” to finish building a platform for the bed and headboard to attach it to. You know, one of those ‘fancy’ looking beds with maybe storage underneath. Oh yeah – I want it all! :D

  490. Brooke says:

I’d spend the gc on lighting for our dining room!

  491. Adrienne says:

Paint! I am working on my daughter’s room now and have 3 kids to go after that. Lastly, is MY bedroom which I’m looking for a warm grey color.

  492. Kikka says:

We need to paint the house, and we could also use a new weed eater.

  493. Judy says:

so many options – new tile for bathroom floors, beadboard, wood to do board and batten in other bathroom – all things bathroom.

  494. Leslie says:

I am painting my house so I would buy paint and then some mulch as I need to finish my yard.

  495. Kelly says:

I love walking thru Lowe’s and getting tons of ideas for all parts of my house. Since my bathroom is the current project, I guess that is where I would have to spend the money!

  496. Susan says:

There are so many ways I’d use that Lowe’s gift card! My bedroom needs to be painted (hasn’t been painted in 11 years!), I’d also re-paint my living room (currently re-decorating it), and I’d use the rest to buy a screen door for my back entry (I already found the door I want at Lowe’s!)

  497. Adrienne says:

One question. Can you list the paint colors you used in the challenge.

  498. emily says:

posted on fb & tweeted :D

  499. Mindy says:

Would definitely use it to start overhauling my outdoor space. Need paint, an outdoor ceiling fan, and a new deck.

  500. Cari Steward says:

My husband and I just purchased our first real home and this $250 would help us so much as the entire interior has to be repainted and needs new flooring and lighting!! And of course, we are DIYers so we will be tackling all of these projects by ourselves with supplied from Lowe’s!! Thanks Centsational Girl :)

  501. I would ummm….paint my kitchen cabinets.

  502. Ashley F. says:

If I won the $250 gift card, first I would redo my dining table since its looks like a picnic table by retaining it, tiling the top so I don’t have to use a table cloth(i dislike them) and then would add cushion and fabric to the top of the benches. Next I have to end tables that I’ve found at odds and end places and would strip them, and end up painting them a gray or violet color with an elegant pattern on them. Then I would uses matching hardware to make them look like they belong together so my husband and I would have nightstands for out bedroom. Since currently our bed is only on rails I would then make a fabric headboard and make it extremely long in order to add height to our room. I’m still looking for a dresser to redo but eventually when i’ve found the perfect one that would be redone as well. After the necessities were finished, I’d like to father material to build my son a little school desk so, he has a place to do little activities when he is down stairs and we are cooking and need to be able to see him.

  503. Corrie says:

Woo-Hoo! Linked you up on Facebook ;)

  504. Heather says:

I just bought a house and I am desperately in need of light fixtures!

I would love to furnish our patio/deck with the funds!

  506. Sherise says:

I linked to this giveaway through facebook and am crossing my fingers!

  507. Sharon B. in Oregon says:

I’d start with new paint for the kitchen and then our family room. Both need to be updated with some color.
Then I’d probably turn to the patio to make it nice for the summer.

  508. FeFe says:

$250 would really help buy paint. We’re getting ready to put our house up for sale.

  509. MelissaJane says:

Well, I have an order of paint samples on its way to me right now – through 5/16, Lowe’s paint samples are buy one get one free, and they ship free! – so I’d pick the paints for our new house (kitchen, living room, dining room, master…doin’ it all!) and get going!

  510. Cari Steward says:

Just shared on Facebook as well!!

  511. Staci says:

I would repaint the master bedroom, paint the bookshelves in the dining room, and do several pieces in the mirrored finish look (like the desk you linked to several months ago) AND I want to experiment with the colors of gray and gray chalk paint. I would like to paint my kitchen cabinets and refinish the formica counter top with the Rustoleum counter kit! I have several pieces that need paint. I would share all of the pics with you since you are the inspiration that has started my desire to freshen up on a budget :)

  512. emily says:

IF I were to win the $250 – I would be able to finish making the bed of my dreams! ((picture of my headboard I made!!))

  513. crazymommy says:

  514. Christi says:

I am moving into a new apartment in a few weeks! I have lots of DIY projects planned to make the place look nice. And, I’m a very broke college student, so any amount of many would be super helpful!

  515. Cari Steward says:

My husband and I just purchased our first real home and this gift card would definitely come in handy!! The entire interior needs to be repainted and it needs all new flooring and lighting as well!!! Also, paint for a spare bedroom at our up north house that I want to make nice and “cottage-y.” And, have an old jelly cabinet that I would like to try my hand at painting, maybe for my daughter’s room. And…. who knows what else! :-) Love your blog! Great inspiration!

My oh my! $250 gift card! I am in the process of renovating my bedroom…and I mean, drywall on the ceiling, cedar siding on the walls, a new closet and shelving. So I would use it on the crisp white paint for my walls, a pendant lighting hardware, paint for my night stands and lamps, and the gorgeous crystal knobs to finish off my fathers dresser that he refinished and passed on to me before he passed away. The knobs are exactly what this masculine dresser needs in my femanine room.

I actually found a link to Centsationalgirl from the Jones Design Company website a few weeks ago and have been in love with the project gallery ideas ever since. I moved into a new apartment back in January and have since been trying to make it feel like home. We have an enormous patio and I believe that your outdoor space is just as important as your indoor space and both should represent YOU. I’ve added globe lights and some lounge chairs but the one thing that was missing is a table and chairs. I’ve been saving this beat up bistro set in my parents attic for a few years now telling myself that I would fix it up one day… well the time has come. The project gallery DIY on fixing up an outdoor table gave me the push I needed to finally fix up that table. I would use the Lowes gift card on all items needed to fix up my bistro set and a few additions to turn the patio into my oasys.

  585. Alison says:

  588. Megan says:

Two things: Paint and plants! My patio and front deck definitely need to be freshened up with some plant life and my upstairs hallway and bathroom are in dire need of some color!

  608. Gail Pokora says:

Good Morning Centsational Girl~ I get so much enjoyment reading your blog each day. You show all of us how to do a lot with a little! My husband and l are retired and don’t have a lot of extra money to decorate. We have a small cozy home, although short on entertaining areas. What l would do with the Lowe’s gift card would be to paint my attached garage, the walls as well as the floor. It’s important to both of us when our kids and grand kids come to visit there is some set-aside play space. I imagine setting up a ping pong table, possibly another small table for games and puzzles. My imagination is taking over now, thinking how fun this space could be. Again, that you for all the great ideas..Gail

I’ll be tackling the master bedroom soon. Everything (walls, ceiling, trim) is the same color. There is no bedroom door. There are no window treatments (not even blinds). And the light fixture is super basic and cheap. A second floor bedroom in Austin, TX really needs a ceiling fan.

  618. What an awesome giveaway. We just moved into a new house that needs a lot of work. I’ve finally determined some of my color choices and now it’s just finding the funds to do it! I’d love to win.

  641. mike says:

$250 at lowes would get me a new palm sander, maybe a new compressor and paint gun or maybe a bunch of bags of concrete to finish up my countertops or maybe some posts for a pergola, need I go on. I have multiple lists that could eat up $250. dope giveaway.

  651. Allison says:

We are very busy remodeling our office into a nursey for our first child (due in 10 weeks!) We have had to do almost a complete gut of the room (rewiring electric, new windows, ceilings, floors, THE WORKS) and are at Lowe’s almost every weekend picking up more supplies. Today is our anniversary and due to financial crunches (me spending too much on our new mantle that he just finished building last night) he isn’t getting anything. 682. Katie says:

Our bathrooms are due for an update. They still look like the typical 90s builder bathrooms. We’d start with our guest bathroom. We would frame the mirror, paint the wood cabinets, change the light fixtures, add knobs to the cabinets and add some shelving. We recently had our first child, so a lot of our expenses are going towards him. The Lowes card would be a wonderful treat.

I would either get patio set or a new lamp!

  691. Charisma says:

With a $250 gift card from Lowe’s I would finish up the trim in our house (only half of it has trim :S and we only need about $80 worth left) and with the remaining $170 I would put it towards replacing the carpet in my 12 month old daughter’s room which is stained up pretty badly as the previous tenant of that room was a puppy. Thanks for the giveaway Kate!

I want to buy some more indoor/outdoor carpeting, build a lattice wall for privacy around our pool area, and plant a tropical oasis around the “future” lattice wall of our pool area.

  695. Jessic says:

Oh my…$250 at Lowe’s?!! I actually would start with paint (I’ve been wanting to try some stripes and stencils, as well as bring in some COLOR!)…then add some light fixtures…and perhaps some purty little plants for the outside of our new house. So many choices! Yay!

  696. Carrie says:

How generous of you!!! I would buy a much needed (and wanted) backsplash for our very plain kitchen with a $250 giftcard to Lowe’s…Happy Friday to you!

  697. Jennifer says:

Oh this was an easy one for me. One of my goals this year is to have a greener home. This desire along with the soring prices of food (as a Mom of 4 my bills are crazy high) I am planning to put togehter a big backyard garden to start to grow our own fruits and vegs and I am doing this with my kids as I think it sends them a valuable message about our environment and also about being financially savy. I would take that $250 and put that towards our fruits and vegs and gardening tools and lumber for our bed. Thanks so much for the great blog!

  698. kris says:

wow! I think I ‘d start my next paint job ;-)

  701. Susie says:

I would use the $250 for Repainting (almost) my entire main floor of my house. LOTS of Valspar needed for that undertaking . . .

  702. I never run out of things to get at Lowes, so I would have no trouble spending the gift card. I would probably get something for the yard, like edging for the flower beds.

  707. Lee says:

I would use that gift card to freshen up our playroom. The walls have not been painted since we moved in and deperately need to be re-painted with a fun color!

  708. JDG says:

I would use it for our master bathroom that needs a new vanity! the previous owners put in a pedestal sink, which is really nice, but NOT practical!

  709. Allison says:

I would use it for paint for the yet-to-be painted rooms in my apartment, and maybe some accessories (pillows, plants..) for my balcony!

  710. Annie says:

What a great event! Since I am a newbie I bought some Valspar white paint last weekend and used them to paint my garage. Although it’s not completely done, yet, I am already loving the clean garage look v.s. the white grids that construction people did.

Anyway, if I win the $250, I will most likely use it to buy more paints. One of my dream is to paint a patterned wall like you did with you bedroom wall. This money will definitely help me do that!!

  711. Shelley says:

I am always making multiple trips to Lowes every week! If I won, I used it to purchase paint for my guest bedroom and if I had any left over, I’d spend it in the garden/nursery department!

  712. Karen G. says:

I would buy paint, crown molding and maybe plants! Thanks for offering this!

  713. tiffany says:

I would use it to redo my bathrooms (paint, cabinets, mirrors, lighting…)

  714. Condo Blues says:

If I won, I’d move painting the accent wall in my kitchen and living room bright red to the top of my to do list! The rest of the gift card will go toward buying wood and building the mantel of my dreams!

  715. Tamera says:

I would use my lowe’s gc to start our master shower re-do. It is in desperate need and is the last thing to get taken care of.

  719. Irene Cheung says:

It sounds like you had a great time hanging out with Nate. A $250 gift certificate would be great from Lowe’s. I am currently in the middle of painting a floor cabinet for my bathroom (following your awesome tips for painting furniture, etc.), but still have to buy paint for the cabinet. I also want to repaint a red bathroom and an office that still has a cheap coat of builder’s beige paint. So, lots of painting!

  720. Jenny says:

I’m loving Chevron print right now! I would use the $250 for a new kitchen light fixture and some supplies to spice up several chairs and a wooden console.

  724. Laura says:

My husband and I just bought our first house almost a month ago and the first week we moved in I headed to Lowes to get paint samples to hang up all over the house and I finally made the final choice and know what colors I am going to go with for the living room and the master. I told myself I wasn’t allowed to decorate till all our things were unpacked and organized perfectly, AND, we have painted. $250 to Lowes would dramatically help us make it to that goal sooner, especially since this being our first house we don’t even have a ladder or paint brushes, so tackling the job of painting will be a big expense to jump start our homeownership. Not to mention the yard haha, we live in California so the season for blooming has already started and heading into summer and we don’t have landscaping in the backyard and dying grass in the front, both of which we have major plans for.

  725. Meg says:

I would put it toward a new shower/bathtub for my parents. And give them the best christmas gift ever, cause boy is their bathroom in need of an upgrade!

  726. Karen says:

There’s so much I would do! Oh, to install chair rails and bead board and paint and refloor my whole condo! But, the thing that I want to do the most is build a custom desk/work area with storage in the empty corner in my kitchen. It’s an odd little corner that you can’t fit a table in, but a wonderful flat area to knead bread and blend our morning smoothies would be perfect!

  727. Elizabeth says:

    I tweeted about the giveaway!

  728. Karen says:

Or I could make my yard pretty and replace all the broken solar lights. OR I could get my husband a brand new MANLY tool set so he’ll stop using my awesome pink, fits my small hand tools. The possibilities are endless…. Off to daydream.

  740. Alicia B says:

  745. Jamie says:

I would put it toward turning one of our bathrooms into a much needed additional bedroom. Thanks for sharing!

  746. Kim L says:

I linked on twitter too! @kblesher

  747. courtney says:

we just moved into our first home almost a year ago, and still have sooo many projects to do… One thing high the gigantic list is to paint the front door a fun color, currently it’s beige, as is the entire house… ick! But much could be done for our curb appeal with 250 lowes dollars!!

  751. Jessica J says:

I would purchase a lawn mower and a light fixture I’ve been eyeballing to hang over my dining room table.

  752. Jess says:

We are painting the outside of our DIY fixer-upper this summer, and I’m super excited to try out Valspar’s new Duramax paint. I would use the Lowe’s giftcard to purchase all the paint, which will definitely make our neighbors happy!

  753. Emy says:

I would put it towards putting in our new vegetable/flower garden the new house we moved into 3 weeks ago!!

  754. I would use this to redo my daughter’s room. She wants bead board, new paint…she is 10 going on 18 and wants it updated (even though we just made over her room 2 years ago…) ahhhh, GIRLS!

  755. Alycia says:

I would love to buy countertop transformations for my kitchen, we’ve already started painting the cabinets white, adding hardware, a new sink, and a tile backsplash, but we could sure use some help on the countertops!

  756. natasha says:

I am working to finish up my “mom-cave” this weekend. I am needing carpet and some new cabinets. This is would be great to help me with the mounting expenses.

  757. Alex says:

$250! I’d buy paint for the master bedroom and bath, some new bamboo shades for the playroom re-do I’m in the middle of and some pretty colorful plants for the front yard.

  758. Heather says:

I would purchase bamboo shades for our downstairs living area. We’ve been in our new construction home for almost a year and still don’t have blinds! It’s time :)

  759. Kelly says:

I’d put it towards a bunch of summer projects I have planned. Shelving, lighting, and painting!

  760. Trish says:

I would use the giftcard to buy FLOWERS! I am dying to plant and hang and see flowers, but can’t ever seem to find money in the budget!

  761. Holly says:

We want to install pull out drawers in our pantry. We buy a lot of groceries in bulk, it’ll be so nice to see everything we have.

  762. ahnkadragon says:

I could really use this to paint my new apartment a finish up some DiY projects like my kitchen table which I just finished sanding!

  763. kelly says:

I’d use toward new patio furniture!

  764. Terri says:

Let’s see….where do I start? I need paint and supplies for two furniture projects I plan to do, new blinds in my master bedroom, a rug for my dining room, pots for both the front and back yards, patio furniture…and the list could go on and on. I love Lowe’s.

  768. Kristin says:

I would use it to refinish the many peices I have stored away!! Also, we always need flowers!!! Looks like ya’ll had a blast…. Kristin

  769. Mandy says:

I could definitely put the gift card to good use this summer! We’d like to spruce up our enclosed front porch and add quite a bit to our landscaping…$250 would come in handy!

  772. Kari says:

I shared the link to this giveaway on FB @ kari.schmidt1 Thanks!!

  773. Lucky you! What great fun you must have had at the Lowe’s event. Being in the same room with all those beautiful paint colors AND Nate… heavenly! ;)

I love Lowe’s and Valspar paint! Nineteen months ago, my hubby and I bought a run-down 1978 house on a 30 acre horse farm and since then, I think we’ve spent a bazillion dollars at Lowe’s fixing the place up. I even bought all my new kitchen appliances and washer/dryer from Lowe’s. I’ve used Valspar paint exclusively inside and out but there’s still painting to do, not to mention a long list of unfinished projects on the house and barns. We could also use some landscaping plants and patio pavers. Winning a gift card would be an awesome help in crossing off some of those projects on the “To Do” list! Thank you so much for the opportunity, Kate!

  774. Kim says:

I would use the card either towards new patio furniture or plants for updating the front of our house. It needs it. Bad.

  775. Ashley says:

I’m redoing the landscaping in my front yard. All those flowers and shrubs really add up, so I would use the gift card on that.

  776. Kate says:

What wouldn’t I do? :) We bought house this winter and have a neverending lists of fun projects – from rescreening window screens to repainting thrift store finds.

  777. Wendy says:

I’m just jealous you got the spend the day with Nate! I’m telling you I could blow $250 at Lowes faster than a craft junkie in Michael’s! I need paint desperately for several rooms in my house and plywood to make a new headboard for my bed and a counter for our laundry room. Also, some cabinets for the laundry room, some new plants for the yard and some new blinds for our bedroom as well. Wait? I think I’m already over the budget…story of my life.

  778. Jenna says:

There are so many things I would like at Lowes! I’m planning out a big vegetable/fruit garden and could definitely use the gift card on fencing and trellis materials.

  779. Shannon says:

Oh, I would go craxy with a $250 gift card from Lowes. When you DIY, $250 can go a looooong way :)

  780. Margaret says:

If I won I would use the gift card to buy some of the parts that we need to redo our main bathroom, a project we are about to tackle…Thanks for the chance Kate

  781. Kristin says:

I posted this link to my Facebook account!

  782. Jessica J says:

I just posted this link to my facebook page too!

  783. kristin says:

I would start working on my baby’s nursery in our new (but very old) house!

  784. Sherry says:

First I’d buy some stripper (of the paint removing variety, not the clothes removing), then some paint and finish to fix up the dresser I just bought.

That should leave enough to the board for my headboard and frame so my beautiful gray linen has something to be mounted on.

    Then, accessories!

  785. Charity says:

I would buy a lot of paint and some plants too.

  786. Vonda L. says:

Oh, I could get some patio furniture (or better yet, pavers FOR a patio!). Our landscape lighting leaves much to be desired also. With $250, I could make a dent in some of my to-do list!

  787. Margaret says:

    I linked it with facebook

  788. Sylvester says:

It would be so wonderful to win this card. We moved into our house almost a year ago and have been wanting to do the necessary home improvements, but haven’t had the funds to do so. This would go a long way to get some of those necessary chores completed!

  789. Nikki says:

I’m moving into a little old farmhouse in three and 1/2 months, and I need everything! But the project I want to do most is to make a light fixture for the dining area off the kitchen with lots of exposed lightbulbs! Thank you for offering us your gift card!

  790. Sara S. says:

$250?!? I could do SO much with that! First, we’re redoing our girls room and I want to do turquoise and white stripes in the room… so paint and supplies for that. We also want to build a desk for my 2nd grader. $250 would go a long way to accomplish all of that. How sweet of you to pass it along!

  791. Amy says:

I actually liked the hinges and knob white, it was something unexpected! I would use the gift card to paint my bedroom. I’m re-doing it and it needs a fresh coat of paint to help it transform!

  792. Jennifer says:

I have so many projects up my sleeve, first of all, I would be buying lots of paint with this g/c. I am redoing my bedroom and we are painting it the slate color from Restoration Hardware, although I cannot afford that kind of price tag for paint. We are also purchasing a french country hutch off of craigslist and right now it is red and I am not sure if I would like it red, I was thinking black/brown…this would come in handy! Thanks for the opportunity!

  793. Dana says:

I would love to be able to buy the glass mosaic tiles for our powder room renovation!!

  794. Rach says:

We are moving into our first home! I’m going to need lots of paint, and a miter saw…among loads of other things I’m sure! My husband and I joke that we need to buy stock in Lowes now….

  795. Kelly says:

I would definately buy paint! I’d also love to try countertop transformations for my bathroom, but wall paint and spray paint would be first on the list. Then, maybe plants…or scratch that all, maybe a ceiling fan…

  796. jeri says:

Thanks for the chance on such a great giveaway! I am trying to help my mom fix her home up and it needs so much, such as, paint, blinds, even some plants and planters. Would be great if i won!

  797. Sylvester says:

    Posted on Facebook!

  798. Judy says:

I am in the midst of a painting project in my new home – and I have a ceiling fan that makes so much noise – it has to be replaced. What a help the gift card would be- thanks for the chance to win.

  799. Erica A. says:

I just got a new apartment and we desperately need some items for it (like a fan in the living room!). Plus I’m getting married in October, and there are all kinds of things we could use then, too!

  800. Jennifer says:

Just linked over on facebook too…

  801. Joy Cooper says:

I would use it to buy some wonderful Valspar paint for my summer project of painting white my old southern home’s judges paneling in the den!

  802. Andrea says:

I would buy LOTS of paint and painting supplies! I’ve been dying to paint my kitchen, hall, powder room, laundry room and master bedroom. Doing it for FREE would definitely be just the nudge I need to get those projects started! BTW, I love your little cabinet…funky and creative!

  803. Allie says:

Patio furniture! This winter’s storm destroyed our table and two chairs and we have nothing left to enjoy this great weather!

  804. Susan says:

I’d spend the $$ on ceiling fans and lighting. Lowe’s rocks. And so do you. :)

  805. Cindy says:

We just bought a new house, so the question should be, “What wouldn’t I do with a $250 gift card?” Paint, flooring, landscaping, lighting…the list is endless!

  806. Julie says:

I’d buy lots of spray paint. Oodles of it. Then maybe some flowers. Oh! And possibly a rug!

  807. Christina K. says:

That Lowes card would be sprinkled a bit everywhere! A new mirror here, some flowers there…yadayadayada!!

  808. Amanda says:

we close on our forever home in 2 weeks! we could DEFINITELY use a $250 on paint, supplies, molding, etc. please pick me!

  809. Kristin says:

Just visited over at The Inspired Room too and can’t believe you two got to spend the afternoon with Nate! How dreamy :) I would loveeeee to win this giftcard for our soon to be purchased first home! I need some paint help bad, and would love to go crazy at Lowe’s!

  810. Danica Clark says:

Ahhh! That’s so so cool!!!! :D Great job on the cabinet, btw! :) Cute!

Aww, I’d use it to paint my little sister’s ROOM! We created a little “Tangled/Princess” room for her, but the walls are bare. We just used spare construction paper to decorate it with flowers and birds.
Didn’t have paint to paint it. It’s just plaster right now, leftover from the 70’s. We bought the house a while ago, ripped off the psychedelic stripped wallpaper, and it’s just a crusty plaster now. Bleh.

  811. Danielle says:

250$??? I could do alot with that… most likely I would use it to help with our backyard. Right now it is owned by our dog, which mean patchy grass, holes, and smooshed flowers!

  812. Shelle says:

First off, what a neat event put on by Lowe’s. It looks like it was a ton of fun and your little table is awesome. $250 at Lowe’s? What WOULDN”T I spend it on? We’re always working on some project either inside or outside, so it would definitley get used.

  813. Alicia says:

I’d put it towards either supplies for my new patio or new countertops.

  814. Blair says:

I would put it toward buying tile for my bathrooms and kitchen backsplash.

  815. Stephanie M says:

My kitchen and living room need some help!
