Took the quiz and my style is traditional!

I just found your blog and I love it. I desperately need help in my family room. My husband convinced me to buy a leather sofa/loveseat in our family room that is massive. It’s the only thing he asked for in our entire house. My challenge has been to add accessories and furnishings to make the couchese blend more with my taste and the rest of the house. I would love your help.

  3. sherry says:

I am reupholstering my grandfather’s chair form the 1930s for my family room. I have been trying to decide on a fabric for 10 YEARS!! My husband wants colour, I want monotone. Please, please help.

    My style was asian modern.

  9. My style is romantic/country but mostly traditional and I could use help in EVERY room of our house!! HELP!!!

  10. Viv says:

My dining alcove needs help. I have the dinning table and chairs down but the wall is bare!

  11. Meredith says:

I need help with my living room…i have a lot of wasted space. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  12. alecia says:

Trouble space would be our living room- it is a central room with three open doorways into other rooms and a glass door going outside and also has two windows flanking the glass door. The room is also somewhat small. Have painted it- but need help with furniture placement and decor ideas that can be switched out .

  13. alecia says:

country, rustic and traditional were my style words- i would agree.

  14. Meredith says:

My design style is mostly traditional with equal parts country and romantic…interesting!

  15. MemeGRL says:

Oh, I have just the spot that needs help! Our master bedroom is a converted attic space and while it is fine, the acoustical ceiling tiles are something I never dreamed I’d live with for 10 years. I’m ready to move on but don’t know what to do/where to go with it. Thanks for the chance to dream!

  16. Mary Samp says:

My design style is Traditional with equal parts of Tuscan, Rustic and Modern. What a combo!

  17. Mary Samp says:

My problem space is the master bedroom and finding a reading area within. I think I need to try a new arrangement or furniture along with new bedding and window treatments.

  18. Stacey says:

My style finder said I was mostly traditional, with a little asian and country. Which I don’t think I am at all. Hmm….
I need help with my family room, we’ve painted a couple times and I just can’t quite get it right, plus we have a huge red brick fireplace that I don’t love but don’t know what to do with it.
    Paint it… don’t paint it….???

  19. Magen says:

I have a living space in my basement that is long and some what narrow. I’d love to use it for a toy room and for my scrapbook room, but don’t really even know where to begin!

  20. Magen says:

Crazy. My profile has five different styles that are all equal: asian, coastal, modern, rustic and traditional. Wish I knew what that meant!

  21. Magen says:

I’ve linked to the giveaway on facebook.

  22. Philicia Martin says:

My family room could use a new fresh layout and look….. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  23. Kathryn says:

Need Help with my living room. You walk right into it from the front door and I really want to make a great first impression plus it has a beautiful view that I want to highlight… I don’t know what to do, HELP!

  24. Kathryn says:

I did the quiz and it says I am “Romantic, Traditional, and Rustic” Sounds about right except for maybe the romantic part. ;)

  25. Sylvia says:

We’re trying to fix our bathroom. It’s too small, too outdated and we’re not even sure what kind of style would fit best, or how to make it most aesthetically pleasing!

  26. Sylvia says:

My style finder says I’m mostly traditional, but I have an equal amount of country, rustic and tuscan in the mix. I’ll have to check out those terms for new inspiration on the bathroom!

  27. Rhonda says:

    My style is definitely Traditional.
My livingroom is so hard. The only things symmetrical are the windows on the N and S walls. The entire W wall is unusable with a fireplace in the middle flanked on each side with doors; one to a 3 season room and on the other side to a small den. On the E wall the entry doorway into the livingroom itself is offset. I cannot arrange our furniture in a way that allows a comfortable conversation without either clustering the furniture into the NE corner of the room. In the 7 years we’ve lived here I’ve tried every way I can think of, clearly I am in desperate need of new eyes on my problem.
    I hope I win!

  28. Devon says:

I need help with the master bedroom, great room, office, guest room,…pretty much everywhere but the master bathroom (small miracles, huh?).

  29. maggie says:

Oh my, my living room/dining room/den all in one needs help! Pick me!

  30. I could definitely use some help in my living room. I’ve got some basics, but really need help pulling it together and completing a cohesive look.

  31. Barbara says:

I fear there is no help for my “problem” room….We call it the dead animal room. That’s what happens when the boy you love loves hunting. But it is one small room….with a wall mounted big screen, bookcases, a black leather recliner and dead, stuff animals. Deer and antelope. Yeah me huh…I bet you’re jealous! So I’m counting on My Design Guide!

  32. Miya says:

Mostly Modern, a little bit Coastal, Asian and Rustic…Now there’s a challenge!

  33. Darlene Rugg says:

I need help with my living room.

  34. Darlene Rugg says:

    My style is traditional.

  35. Darlene Rugg says:

I linked to Twitter https://twitter.com/#!/shaggyrugg. I need this giveaway!!

  36. busybodyk says:

The room that needs the most help is my master bedroom. We have nice furniture but no style at all :(

  37. busybodyk says:

Based on the style quiz, my style is Modern with a little country.

  38. MichelleD says:

We moved into our home 1 year ago next month and it is still lacking in the decorating department. I need so help!! I have lost my “mojo” for putting things together!! I am not sure on which room I would choose… they all need some direction!!

  39. MichelleD says:

After visiting the My Design Guide website and taking the style quiz. I am coming up mostly tradtional with Coastal and Romantic tied 2nd. Interesting… I do LOVE coastal style, but I don’t have much of it in my home. But I am a FL native… maybe that’s why!! lol!! :)

  40. Margo K says:

I probably need the most help in my living room. It’s in real need of an update, something a little more fresh!

  41. Jess says:

The master bedroom for sure! I can’t seem to decide on a paint color and the room is large with basically just a bed in it… lots of potential though :)

  42. Jess says:

After taking the style quiz, I guess I am romantic in my interior design style, I would never have guessed! Good to know…

  43. Hope says:

I have been so stuck with my living room and am desperately in need of help!!! For over a year now I have been living with a sofa full of holes, no coffee table and am desperately in need of a rug. The problem is that I have no clue how to pull it all together, so I have just done nothing at all. My style and house are traditional, but it is very hard to stay traditional and not have it look dated. Could desperately use some help!!!

  44. wheelwi says:

I have been in my house for 14 years and haven’t done a thing to my dining room. I’m stuck on the color choice. I do have an idea for furniture, but I’m putting it off until I first paint the room. Definitely need help!

  45. I’d love some help with a layout for our new living room. It’s long and huge (for us) and i’m just not sure how to use the space best.

  46. HeatherC says:

My master bath needs some serious help. It has pretty tile work in the shower but I have no idea what to do with the walls or accessories—- I am tired of looking at “dry wall” white walls and would love some real advice!

  47. Erin N. says:

We have an odd-shaped entryway room to our house with several huge windows that I have NO IDEA how to furnish. We moved into the house in September and it still has nothing in it other than an old, ugly plaid chase and a $12 wood chair that I picked up at Goodwill and hope to re-purpose as a desk chair eventually. It also has the previous owner’s curtains which are lacy and whimsical and my husband hates them. We just don’t know what to do with the space so it remains practically empty and lifeless. HELP!

  48. Val says:

Large cut out in our master bedroom wall. Our canopy bed is sitting in the cut out right now and it doesn’t look right in the room. We moved into our new home 3 years ago and I gave birth to twins 6 months later, so nothing has been done to the room and I am overwhelmed at the idea of what to do. Would love some design / decor help!!

  49. Erin N. says:

The style quiz says that my style is coastal and rustic, but I would say that I prefer more traditional and contemporary (my husband helped pick out some of the answers – thus the rustic part).

  50. Erin N. says:

I linked to the giveaway on Facebook. Here’s to hoping…!

  51. Val says:

Style Finder told me my styles were: Asian, Country, Romantic, Rustic, and Traditional – no wonder I have problems with decorating because I love it all!!!

  52. Mayhem says:

I need help with my living room. It’s an odd shape with a huge fireplace tucked in a corner on a short wall…

  53. Mayhem says:

My style is Costal and Traditional!

  54. Christine says:

What a cool service. My problem area is a great room. I’m not sure how to define the living and dining spaces and am absolutely clueless about paint colors since the walls are all connected. And it’s a relatively small space too so I’m challenged with storage, having enough seating etc. Looks like this tool could be a big help!

  55. Christine says:

OK… I’m traditional with coastal and country influences. I am loving this site. Thanks for sharing. :)

  56. Patty says:

We have really beautiful raised ceilings in our master bedroom BUT there is this weird awkward “plant shelf” across the ceiling and I have not a clue as to what to do with it. I would love some help by winning! Thanks for the opportunity and I love your site!

  57. Nicole L. says:

We live in a small bungalow with our entry door (no entry room) in the middle of the living room. This room is our most used room. The seating arrangement we currently have – with the door opening in the middle of the room – makes seating awkward and not conducive to conversation.

  58. Kat says:

Design Guide calls my style Traditional & Romantic. I call it Attention Deficit Disorder Design. Just moved to a new home and I would love to get some help with the living room. I would love a traditional European, romantic living room. Right now, I am at a stand still with paint choices and accessories! I would love to accomplish a photo gallery in this room as well…or is that faux pas? Thanks for all your inspiration and incredible tutorials.

  59. Jen says:

We are in the process of designing a town home, so I envision needing — or just plain ol’ wanting — help in just about every space! The biggest challenge, though, will be the one big, open area that will serve as kitchen, eating area, and sitting room. How to make each area distinct and cozy, and yet keep the space open and roomy-feeling?

  60. Lara says:

My problem area is my dining room…….we recently remodeled it, but it still feels unfinished.

  61. Lara says:

The quiz said my style was mostly modern & traditional.

  62. Malissa C. says:

My style is romantic, rustic and traditional…I never would have known:) My husband’s style is COMPLETELY rustic & country, so our decor (furniture, pictures, etc…) is mostly rustic. I have a hard time deciding what to incorporate (paint, fabric, accessories) that puts a little more of “me” in here! I guess this is kind-of two entries in one, but I just wanted to make sure that I explained what my problem area is:) Thanks for the opportunity!

  63. heyruthie says:

i need help in my living room! the previous owners “remodeled and reoved windows and added walls. all that = dark and isolated! i want to open it back up to the kitchen like it used to be, but do it in a more up-to-date way!

  64. heyruthie says:

ok–i took the quiz, and iw as surprised! it said i’m mostly “rusitc” with a little bit of “country” and “traditional” thrown in. i would have guessed “coastal” and NOT country–but who knew! lol!

  65. Danielle says:

Oh goodness, what room in my house doesn’t need help? My family room is a disaster – furniture arrangement, window coverings, maybe even a paint dilemma. Help! :)

  66. Danielle says:

The StyleFinder says I’m Traditional/Romantic with a touch of Coastal.

  67. Emily B says:

My problem area is a room upstairs we refer to as the “family room.” It’s a large open space at the top of the stairs, with three doors (two bedrooms, small office) off of it. So there are several paths through the room, which makes it hard to arrange any sort of furniture in it. So far we’re not doing much with it–a chair, small table, quilt rack, and a bookcase. It’s right outside our son’s room so it often has a marble set or other toy scattered about!

  68. Emily B says:

Asian/country/modern/rustic/traditional…sounds like a mish-mash, but apparently it must be working because our house doesn’t seem to be scaring anyone!

  69. Melora says:

I have an entry way straight into my two story living room and stairs that wrap around it…
I have NO IDEA how to arrange my furniture appropriately, let alone arrange artwork to either unite or make these two separate spaces.

  70. Melora says:

my style is Asian, country and traditional.
    Whoa?

  71. Emily Anne says:

I have a living room with a large greenhouse style window jutting out of it and I don’t know what to do with it (or the rest of the ’50’s L-shaped room either!).

  72. Tanya K says:

I need help with my living room. Its bright and decent size but it shares space with kitchen nook and I cannot make them work together as one space. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this giveaway!

  73. Kathy says:

Dining room wall — it is a big wall and we have a sideboard against it right now and that is it…need to figure out how best to accessorize….

  74. Ruth says:

StyleFinder says my style is Modern and Traditional. I say that’s pretty close but prefer to mix modern and vintage.

My problem area is a living space. We’re currently trying to convert part of it into an office area/nook and also arrange a small sitting area around a fireplace…all in the same room!
Would be great to “win” some help so we can finish and enjoy the space to it’s full potential!
    Thanks!

  75. Summerlyn says:

My Design Guide said my style is Romantic with hints of Coastal and Rustic.

  76. Summerlyn says:

The problem in my home is the living room–it is an awkward shape, and I don’t know where to place the furniture.

  77. Summerlyn says:

I linked to MyDesignGuide.com on my Facebook page!

  78. Ellen says:

I would love help decorating our living room. It has huge walls (three are two stories high) and is oddly shaped. I have NO idea what to do with the walls and what furniture would look the best while providing the most amount of seating.

  79. Miss Thrifty says:

The bane of my existence… my husband’s “man cave”/TV room! It’s boring (besides the power rangers picture hanging on the wall) and cold. Help!

  80. Miss Thrifty says:

My style is: romantic, rustic and traditional!

  81. Miss Thrifty says:

I shared the link on facebook.

  82. linda says:

My style was highest on modern with rustic and traitional equal at about 50%. Asian was listed, too.

  83. Sara S says:

Definitely my living room! It’s a narrow room with windows on one wall so I’m struggling with furniture placement which in turn makes it impossible to know where I want to hang pictures. Help!

  84. linda says:

Moved to this house in mid-Sept. The windows have 2-inch white blinds throughout house. Would like to add drapery panels to living/dining room and master bedroom, maybe kitchen dining area, too. Need ideas on what additional treatment to do to other areas.

  85. Gina says:

Definitely my living room–we have one long (bare) wall and a big sectional sofa. Help!

  86. Gina says:

My style was highest for Modern, then Traditional.

  87. Jen says:

This would be so wonderful to win! We moved over the summer, and still have not gotten our family room right. I would love some advice!

  88. Celeste says:

    Problem area: GREAT ROOM!!

  89. Deborah says:

My master bedroom is the last room in my house to decorate. I started with my kids room first. It is currently painted light pink, yellow with green curtains. It looks like easter! I need to bring it down to ONE color (o: I have a lot of furniture in there too and need help organizing it so it doesn’t look crowded. For the sake of sanity HELP! lol

  90. Estee says:

I live in a very old rented appartment, and moving to my own new one in a few months. It’s the first time I’ll be decorating an appartment. I have tons of ideas but no idea how to make them a whole… I hope it makes sense. I’m most afraid of the living room.

  91. Estee says:

My styles are: Asian, Modern and a little bit of rustic.

  92. Devon says:

My “problem” is that I am blessed with a big house (we have 9 children, we need it!) and I have lots of windows with no window treatments. The room I would love help with is our “gathering room”. It has 6 large windows and 2 french doors and a big stone fireplace. I am having trouble with how to dress my windows. Please sign me up! Thanks for this chance to win!

  93. Tracy says:

You don’t know how badly I need this Ü We’ve been in our new house for six years now and I’m still baffled on how I’m suppose to decorate this massive 16 feet mantle with 18 foot ceilings…SEE, I told you! Doesn’t help that the room is long and narrow, too. Builds-in around the fireplace are evil Ü

  94. Tracy says:

    I’m Country, Rustic and Traditional.

  95. Jessica says:

We just purchased our first house, and there are a few spaces that leave us scratching our heads. But I would have to say that our downstairs family room is the most confusing. I would love some professional advice and ideas for what to do with the space.

  96. Jessica says:

My style is Rustic followed by a tie between Asian, Country and Traditional. Sounds about right!

  97. Jessica says:

I just Facebooked (this word will someday be entered into the dictionary) this post, too!

  98. Gem says:

I need help with my living room. I’m going for jewel tones. I have a deep, dark purple sofa, a golden ottoman and accent pillows in various jewel tones. I need help with curtains, accent chairs, and a rug.
