From My Pantry to Yours, A Wine Country Giveaway

August 13, 2010

Some days I have to pinch myself because I’m a very lucky gal to live where I live, and I try my hardest not to ever forget it.  This summer, I’ve clocked plenty of leisure hours at some of my favorite wineries, and wherever I go, I like to pick up a few specialty items to enhance our culinary dishes at home.

Today, I’d like to giveaway a few of those decadent treats to one of you.  It’s been a great month for this blog, so it’s time to pass it along to you in gratitude for continuing to read my musings.  This weekend, I’m delighted to be giving away the following wine country related goodies to one reader!

Lemon infused olive oil from The Olive Press and my favorite fig balsamic vinegar from the famous ‘the girl & the fig’ restaurant.

How do I get watermarks off teak surface using mayo?

HI – I love your blog and was just catching up on some reading when I came across your give-away. What a neat idea! I planted some lavender in my herb garden this summer, but it hasn’t flowered for me yet. Can’t wait until it does!

Now for my question – My husband and I are re-doing our master bath much earlier than we had planned due to some water damage behind the wall. For our wedding, we were given some tan and sage green towels, that have been sitting in boxes since and we’d really like to incorporate them into the decor. I’m having trouble pulling it all together with tile color, paint, etc. Do you have any advice or good resources you could suggest to help me out?

My decorating question is about how to merge styles… I just got married, and my husband and I live in a craftsman style home- it has wooden plank walls, nice details.. but it’s full to the hilt with masculine items and everything looks dark. How do I add some light when I can’t paint the walls or do much? There is so little information for updates to rental units- I desperately want more help to update design with a rental unit…

Ohhhhh.. this is calling my name. My husband (newly married) and I recently eloped to Napa valley, and loved every minute of it. This would remind us of all the yumminess that wine country brings.

OMG I only have a few more minutes!! Okay, forgive me if this was already asked, but what was your FIRST major DIY project? One that made you nervous doing it because it either was a)risky/expensive or b) time intensive?

I’m moving to Berkeley soon. Do you have any suggestions for furniture stores in the East Bay?

  7. I was wondering if you could give some tips on mixing modern with traditional? I love ecletic rooms but feel like I get stuck trying to merge my things.
I love your blog!! : ) Thanks for always inspiring.

What a fabulous gift pack! My decorating dilemma is this: I’m painting the guest bedroom, and am going for zen minimalist. So far, I have a twin bed, simple ikea lack side tables, and plain curtains. I’m stuck for ideas on what other furniture should be in the room (for guests comfort) and how deep can I go on the walls before it feels claustrophobic. I’m thinking a dark warm gray color for the walls, and white trim. Any suggestions?

what a great group of goodies!
Will you be attending the upcoming Petaluma Antiques fair? Oh, and I’d love to hear about how you got your blog started with being so successful!

my aunt told me about your blog….LOVE it, we live in Novato and my husband is a contractor, our life is one big diy project, usually moving slowly with 3 littles. you have great taste and great ideas! so my question is, we have a cabin/lake house that we have been fixing up on a budget. we are working on the kitchen, we put in stainless appliances (dent & scratch from the sears outlet) we painted the cabinets blue and I am thinking about doing moroccan cement tiles for the backsplash, what do you think would look good for countertops, any inexpensive ideas, we put in light bamboo floors? we have an island and one wall of cabinets/coutnertops. Thanks!

My question is how did you wind up living in the Wine Country? Were you always from the area or did you make a big move at some point from another area/life?

  13. CentsationalGirl says:

I’ve lived here all my life Sue! Born and raised! The only time I left was for college and law school, but those were both CA based too.
