I bought an extra set of white slipcovers for my sofa when I purchased it last year. I've yet to use them for some of the reasons you've mentioned. Particularly, my dog, Murphy, aka "Tiny Terrorist", who uses the sofa as a bed when no one is looking! I love white rooms.
